i recently went to my local cigar shop and bought a few sticks. since i have checked there website and the sticks are at least £2 a stick cheaper online is this the norm or should i mention it next time im in there?

Also just noticed that alot of people put the price of cigars in $ not £ is there any reason for this. is it because they get them from usa?

It seems to me that storefront tobacconists add all costs into the store price, plus a certain profit margin. Online vendors tend to be cheaper over all because they don't have the brick n' mortar costs, and they can work with larger amounts. In the states, it's much, much cheaper to order online, even with shipping costs. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty ordering online, but the cost differential is so incredible that it is worth it.

On the other hand, I can't go to my online vendor and have a smoke inside, whereas the tobacconists around here allow that.

Sounds pretty normal. Online is usually much cheaper as there are no shopfront costs to pay for.

You don't get the experience of going in and choosing though.

Quite a lot of retailers have 'on-line' only prices and charge more in the shops ...bit crazy but true.

Cabinet selections also tend to be more expensive than buying individual cigars. I am guessing because when buying a box your guaranteed to officially know the date of production (of course your paying for the box too)? Still, what ever happened to economies of scale? :(

That's the norm. Basically we're saving retailers 'service' time. And time is Money as they say!
