Team,
I am departing to Sicily in a few hours and just realized something. I will be traveling without luggage and instead just using a carry-on backpack. Are there any ways to get my cutter and lighter over there to Sicily with me now, condsidering I have no checked baggage? I also won't have time to mail the items to me.
Anyone also have any good cigar store ideas on the island of Sicily?
Thanks again for BOTL!

I've had cigar cutters taken off me at an airprot (embarrasingly they found about half a dozen cheapo's in various pockets in my rucksack where I'd just dropped them individually over time). Luckily I'd put my decent cutters in my hold luggage.
I have, however travelled many times with a thin metal cutter in my credit card wallet, only ever found on me at Columbo airport & I managed to retrieve it from the luggage carousel at the other end in the plastic bag the'd seal it in to.
I now travel with an even smaller metal single blade that has yet to be discovered.
You might get away with a cheapo plastic framed cutter in your card wallet - not much to loose if you don't.
I'm not sure about the situation with regards to lighters. Does anybody here know for certain?

Government website says:
Lighters
One lighter per person may be carried on a flight. Lighters are considered to be liquids and should be put inside the plastic bag or screened separately. You must keep the lighter on your person throughout the flight.
It is very important that you do not:
place it in your hold baggage
return it to your hand baggage after screening
Don't know about the cutter but the site gives the numbers for World Duty Free at Heathrow. They sell the cigars so may sell the cutters. If you are flying from Gatwick or elsewhere you should be able to find the same details for there.

I haven't tried but i would imagine you should be fine with a punch on a key chain, I remember watching a documentary with an Israeli security guy showing how you can slit someones throat with a credit card and no one checks credit cards when you fly lol. At the end of the day anything can be used as a weapon, rules like this just make people feel safer but actually do nothing but hinder determined people. You should also be able to take safety matches along with a lighter.
Rant over.

Just had a thought - can't you just send a C-5 down to Sicily on a training flight?
Pick up your cutter from them and send them back again?
