Guys, I'm gonna be signing off for a while. I still haven't got a job and I'm out of cigars without having the wherewithal to buy any more. I'm HOPING to be back in work some time next month, but I've applied for over THREE HUNDRED jobs and most haven't even had the courtesy to reply!

I'm a little bit down about it all, but I will be back! It's just that, at the moment, even reading about cigars is probably gonna cause the wife a bit of grief, so from tomorrow, no more!

Really sorry to hear that. Good luck on the job hunt.

The right job will be out there, they alway are. I must say that it really pisses me off when employers don't even respond to an application. My wife has done some recently that take 6-8 hours to complete and they don't even let you know either way. So rude.

How responsive would your wife ben to some small unsolicited packages in the post to help you through this lean smoking period?

Very best of luck with the job-hunting, Sir.
It's a dreadful climate currently. I hope you find something soon.
Ignored applications etc seem to be par for the course. :frown:
All the best.

I'm in a similar situation, know how it feels, I may have to take up a teaching job in a few weeks, not much of my regular work about.

Never give up, something better WILL turn up.

Best of luck

I know with certainty that you will do your part to alleviate this unacceptable situation with one of your typical unbelievable bombs, Ron.

I, on the other hand, lack any subtlety. However, I make up for it in quantity.

Time to do a bit of snooting through my humidorii farm...

Think your right taking a brak from the site for a while if only to ease family tensions but we'll still be here when you log back on:rock:

I rarely type words of encouragement as it goes against my cherished image of being a total ass-hole to everybody but I will make an exception here.

Good luck with the job hunting. I was out of a "real" job for two years and the one I am now doing (started a month ago) is not rock solid yet. Financial IT was not a good thing to be in during a financial crises especially with a medical issue in the background.

My real mistake was one you appear to be avoiding. I kept up, and even upgraded my lifestyle while out of work. Lots of meetings with old and new friends. Cigars, booze, coffee machines and a car (old, nothing fancy) all out of life savings which vanished in short order. Now I am working all I can see is the debt I have to service before I can have any fun again. Avoid that at all costs, it sounds like you are. You must be a stronger character than I to walk away from cigars. I stopped collecting good drink and dvd's in short order, I was not totally mad but the cigars and gadgets remained a constant. I filled my time with that and the gym. It served as a distraction from the loss of self respect and never ending job hunting. Some of the guys on here gave a helping hand also and for that I remain deeply grateful and a little shamed.

Again good luck, we all need it now and again, except the French, no good luck for them please.

T.

Celcis, I can only imagine what you're going though.

I work in the construction industry and although I've lucked out personally as far as employment is concerned, I know waaaaay too many people who have lost their job in the last couple of years.

Just wanted to wish you all the best with the job hunting.

Really sorry to be reading this Mike. My humi's are more allotment sized but I see no harm in following Ron and Roks example and having a wee snoot through too.

In the meantime I really hope things look-up and that you're soon back with us.
