Facts:
Price: 19.50 for 5 (cgarsltd.com)
Length: 105mm
Ring gauge: 43
Re-lights: 1
Time spent: 50 mins (I'm a slow smoker generally, for a quick smoker you'd still get 30 minutes out of it though)

Initial notes: On first inspection this cigar has a very tightly bound wrapper, which has veins and dimples running the fill length. The smell was mild and floral.

Early tasting notes: Lighting the cigar was not a problem, used a cigar match outside and lit first time.

The first 2cm was very very light indeed with slight hints of vanilla and a few floral notes. The cigar took to holding an ash well, although it did have the tendency to burn unevenly but it was very easy to fix by just damping the quick burning bits.

Mid tasting notes: After flicking off the first ash this cigar really emerged it's true flavour, a very strong peppery taste with hints of cumin. I was very surprised by the flavour that emerged after the light beginning but I wasn't overwhelmed by it, it wasn't overly complex but it was cool, and that's something for a £4 cuban.

Final tasting notes:

At the last section the cigar required regular purging to stop the tongue stinging from the nicotine, the smoke became far thicker as you'd expect and the smoke just a fraction dryer. It still managed to hold it's ash. In the final picture is the last time I could smoke the cigar, literally after the picture was taken the next draw was very bitter indeed.

Conclusion: This is an o.k cigar for the money and it wasn't un-enjoyable, it just wasn't particularly special but at £4 a stick what do you expect!

The thing is I reckon there are other flavors to be discovered in this stick, I'm going to season this cigar in the humidor for a few more weeks to see if I can get at these.

Current rating : 6.3/10

Would I say no to another, probably not but it's not one for a special occasion I don't think. As I say though ask me in a couple of weeks and see if my opinion has changed.

Great stuff mate.

I hear they're smokeable but I've not ever had one - a few in my humi for when I get desperate!

That pretty much sums it up, they're smokeable but you'd be pretty mean to give one as a present! How long have yours been in the humi? If you do smoke one tell me what you think as I'd like to know if they age well!

Nice review Jt! :thumb:

Looks like you virtually nubbed it - not a bad effort for such a 'value' cigar. I'm going to have to give one of these a go after favourable experiences with LFdC stogies - see which wins the battle of the value Cubans...

nice review, very good summation of JLP's.

I quite liked them (and Nacionales) when I first started smoking, but have smoked so many NC's which just leave them in dust.

Great review ! Bravo my friend . As for this cigar its a great yard-gar and thats for the Moo-La at least its a CC when your not in the mood for a NC .

For the $ or pound there are many other cigars NC of course that will blow it away.
But if you enjoy them thats all that matters .Its mind over matter. If U don mind, it don matter.
