Sent messages

Hi,
Can anyone advise on whether they can see 'sent' messages as I can't? There's nothing there at all: once they've gone, that would seem to be it. Any help greatly appreciated.

It appears there's a checkbox below where you type your message to 'opt-in' to saving them. I can't find any way to turn it on permanently though...
