I voted for the 898 too though I've never had one, nor any of the others either ( God I've gotta lot of catchin up to do !) but I thought that after all I've read about them that if was allowed to choose one cigar to get stuck on a desert island with then it would have to be something I'd love to try.
I hope my vote still counts !.

Hmmm. Excellent question! Given the choice, I would go for the BBF as I just lurve Bolivars but it's not my fave of the brand.
Why these cigars in particular? Why just the one?

Dave, tippexx, these cigars are in my list of cigars to sample. I compiled this list based on Internet reviews so it is incomplete and, in a way, arbitrary. I actually have the Bolivar Coronas Gigantes on the list, as well, but I had to restrict the number of choices to ten. My plan is to see which cigars top this poll and include them in a second poll with the rest in my list; although, I do suspect that satch will not be thrilled with that idea! :).
For completeness ;), here is the whole list:
Bolivar Belicosos Finos
Bolivar Coronas Gigantes
Diplomaticos No. 2
H. Upmann MAGNUM 46
H. Upmann Monarcas
H. Upmann Sir Winston Cabinet
H. Upmann Upmann No. 2

hey pilot,
looking at your list...... which is quite extensive and varied (in terms of sizes, brands and strengths), i'm a little perplexed!!! if these are all the cigars you've yet to try, you're definitely gonna be very busy (and very skint), lol!!!! i'm kinda confused why these cigars aren't included on your list (forgive me if i've missed something)!!!
bolivar royal corona, next to the partagas D4, probably the best and most consistant robusto in production right now, IMO!!!
why the trinidad robusto extra and not the robusto t? the trini RE may be bigger, but the trini RT is nicer?
IMO, the h upmann magnum 50 is probably the better than the 46!!!
why keep to the 2010 EL's????
what, no cohibas listed???
anyway, i voted for the partagas D4, so you know!!!!
all the best,
alex:849::rock::41::smile:

Alex, thanks for the suggestions - the list just got longer! As I said, I was just jotting down cigars, as I came upon various reviews on forums, blogs, etc. This is why the list is incomplete and inconsistent (Goedel would cringe, I suppose :)). It will definitely take some time to try everything but, then again, I have already sampled seven on the list. I am buying in singles or threes at this stage.
I have left the Cohibas for later, as they are rather more expensive. (I have already tried the Siglos II and VI - they are very good, especially the VI).

One day, my friend, one day--the IV and VI's are on my wish list for sure. I have a cab of II's that I love, and was enthralled with the robusto and secreto that Rokkitman bombed me with (he says he's no saint, but that was a right-saintly act on his part).

hey pilot,
seriously mate, i love my bolivars and partagas cigars!!! i couldn't live without my boli RC's and party D4'S....... the rest are good, don't get me wrong, but you gotta consider that, as much as a party lusi may be great, unless you're smoking indoors, 2hrs on a cigar is too much, bearing in mind winter is fast approaching!!! robustos are, IMO, 'real cigars' and last around an hour, hence why i love them so much!!! here's my 'go to' top 5:
1. partagas d4
2. bolivar royal corona
3. trinidad robusto T
4. ryj short churchill
5. monte petite edmundo (technically not a robusto, but close enough)!
as for my choice of 'go to' 'BIG cigars' (1hr-1hr30mins):
1. partagas p2
2. magnum 50
3. monte no.2
4. hdm epicure especial
5. cuaba salamones
reckon most on here would agree with these choices!! also, they're all available in boxes of 10.......
hope this helps!!!

btw, this is a hell of a debate you've started!!!! it just goes to show how much everyone on here wants to help you out, by advising you on what good cigars to get!!!
also, you're right about the cohibas, i've found them over rated and pretty hit and miss e.g the cohiba robusto, a good one is hard to beat, a bad one will having you cursing like a sailor with syphilis and spoil your day.....
all the best,

Very true. This is a great forum!
About the Monte #2, it is in the "longer" list :). I have already tried it; it is a great cigar, indeed.
Also, cohibaIV has me convinced - I will try a IV at the soonest :). About the Cohibas in general, Alex, I have a friend who smokes them almost exclusively and he was telling me the other day the same thing, that they are hit and miss. On the other hand, isn't this true of any brand?

well pilot, to be honest, in my experience so far, i've never had a bad partagas or bolivar yet!!! that is one of the factors why i rate these brands so high, i've found the quality to be very consistent, they seem to 'hit the mark' everytime, i've not been let down so far!!! if you look into past experiences with others in this forum, you'll find that there were consistency issues with the quality of montecristos (especially the no.2's, 4's & sublimes) and cohibas (robustos & esplendidos)!!!!
you've put together a fantastic list, pretty much most of the habanos in production....... i, like most others on this list, am only doing my small bit to help you select cigars that have been rewarding for me!!!!:41::rock:

Just studied your list Pilot & I have smoked all these apart from the 2010, which I wouldn't be smoking yet if I had come across them. Don't rush it, you will get through them, make a few notes as you go - certianly helped me in the the begining. I envy you; so many fine stix to try for the first time. I won't prejudce your tasting, just take your time to savour each one & get to know the taste profile & learn which stengths & flavours you enjoy the most.
