Afternoon all,

I will be in York this coming weekend, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a decent venue for a warm, dry smoke??

I have had a quick search and Hotel Du Vin has been mentioned, but I'm a bit concerned it's in the 10 Manc Street price range as it looks quite posh!!

Anyone been there lately who might know there drink prices, and if not is there anywhere else around that might suit?

Thanks

There's a couple of alternatives mentioned in this older thread:

Hi Monkey,
Your absolutely right, stay away from the HDV. My better half & I stayed there for a wedding weekend & I was searching the bottom of my wallet for 'White Fivers'.
Definately nice place but F'in dear! They even charged for parking!!!!:(

As El Cat has directed you to the places I mentioned, I tried thinking of some more.....but struggled. Choice Select on coppergate....(just down the road from the rear of Habitat) is the best place to buy cigars, bigish walk in and monthly specials (saying that, they have been the same for the last 3 months and they always forget to apply them at the till!) The Ackhorne is hidden at the back of Micklegate, as you go up mickle gate on the left hand side is a church, turn left immediately after the church and its on your righthand side 50 yards down. It has a patio out the back with an awning, but I've never been in when its raining! Last time I was in they had a particular fav of mine, Sharps Doom Bar and I had a cigar out back...happy days
Make sure you viist the recently renovated York museum, its extremly good
