Seem to have some band colouring differences. Early september on left, sep 2008 on right.

Being an ex-printer (long time ago) the printing process doesn't lend itself to exactamundo colour reproduction Deano, so if it's related to colour, it might not be a drama. Design is another thingamajig.

I can see what you mean, but IMHO i don't think the difference is great....

The cigars look 100% too..

Are they from the same place?

The newer bands seem larger in some of the shots, but I shouldn't worry. If they are dodgy, I'm sure you'll shift them on no problems:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1: (only joking Deano).

But seriously, they look fine. Fire one up when you feel they're ready:rock:

Heh they seem absolutely fine as a cigar, but we're all paranoid about cubans.

I know the printing process can change frequently, it's just that none of my others have that colour - I wouldn't be surprised if they've simply changed it to a different pantone, they did in it 2003 too and made it much lighter.

The pictures I've taken don't show u it as well tbh. The cigars are a tiny tiny bit more girthy too - but within the realms of the boxing selection process they go through I suppose.

:smoke:Deano my main man,

I too have been noticing a difference in the MC band color and texture for some time, but haven't investigated it very far. I agree with cj121 and don't believe the difference necessarily indicates fake puros .

:nerd:I've seen both bands shown in your pics on my puros, and I had the same thoughts as you. But they were fine when I smoked them :41: But it is interesting.

:suspicious: Did you buy them from a brick and mortar or over the internet? Do you trust your source?

:849: Although my sources are very reputible and relilable, it's worth paying attention to in the future.

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I trust my sources :spy:

On the net, first time I've use the source, not heard any bad things about them.

They do seem like quality cubans tbh, that just threw me a bit, wanted to check. Handing 10 of them out, so we'll have a variety of opinions to fall back on!

The second set of bands look like some counterfeit bands I have seen before. Now, I know that you have seen more Montecristo bands than I have, but if you look at the centering of the print, I have read that such off-center printing is a telltale sign that the Montecristos are fake. Just passing along the info. :cowboyic9:

I have a load of genuine which are off centre too, don't think it's a good indication tbh.

Deano

The main one off centre is actually a genuine.

First 3 photos have 2 genuine on left, and 2 suspect on right.

Last photo has 1 gen on left, 1 suspect on right.

That's good to know, Dean, because I was never really sure how accurate that label test was. I have one genuine and one fake in my humi and the fake has an off-center label. I wonder if the label might actually be real but the cigar is fake though (my cigar I mean). Have you read anywhere that color of the band is a good indicator?

Deano

Nah only that different colourings etc can indicate it's fake. And that different colourings mean nothing.
Basically you can't tell lol.

The cigar is the key, and mine look and smell top notch, which must be good.

Just to add to this thread, I have noticed that the bands on the New MC Sublimes EL 08 have the writing embosed (I think thats how you spell it:confused:) in the band and not plain printed.

Also they have a darker colour brown than the 07's MC #2's that I have..

Cohiba IV,
i think the only reason for the darker wrapper on the current MC Sublimes is due to the ageing process. The wrapper for the Sublime is taken from the upper part of the leaf which obviously gets more sun and is not the normal Colorado-claro colour we would see with MC.
Filler leaves and wrapper are aged for two years on the Sublime,i think this is the first time both the wrapper and the filler have been aged by MC(wrapper on MC EL 2006 robusto was aged, not filler).
The new embossed bands were new late last year and i have compared a Sublime band with a box of 2008 Edmundos. Both the same.Hope this helps.

Cohiba IV,
We can only assume that it will be the case for all MC from late 2008 onwards.I have a box of No2 from 2007 and i think when i crack those open they will have the older type band.Hopefully some of the other members can give us additional feedback on the bands from the late 2008/2009 MC releases.
