I've only been to Ajays twice and thoroughly enjoyed myself both times. There is a great selection of cigars in the upstairs walk in humidor i liken it to a grown up sweet shop, so many delicious things to try. There is also a great selection of pipes and tobacco as well as shaving products, one of the best gentlemen shops i have visited. There is also a nice selection of chocolates in case you need to buy a peace offering or Christmas present for your other half when you get home lol. And that is without mentioning the downstairs smoking den. If travelling by train the Teddington train station is a 5-10 minute walk. What better way to start the weekend and grab some last minute Christmas presents. And that is without mentioning Ajay and his staff who are the friendliest and knowledgeable i have met in a cigar trade. It is a chance not to be missed. I also think (correct me if i am wrong) you can bring your own alcohol like a fine rum. Soft drinks, coffee and chocolate bars and be bought if the tobacco gets the best of you. If you are travelling from further afield why not make a day of it for a look round the cigar shops in London then pop into the LCDH in the afternoon.

yes Ajay has not some but lots of tremendous smokes, how ever maybe not everone will be able to justify £100.00 odd quid at this time of the year on traverling, ticket, smokes etc so if more people can come becouse it will be a bit cheaper if you smoke your own than its a good thing and if you can not understand that well as you said

Wow - personal attack! love it! & in a small way, justified!
But,
Travel, you're in London, I,m in Norfolk......
Ticket... No more than the standard cover charge in some places.. & a FREE quality (I hope) vitola to boot.
The 'Man' & I do not express his views, has a business to run.
And how many cigars can you reasonably smoke in one session without .....??
£100..yeah O.K. it'll cost me more just to get down there...
but that's not the point...
It's a social occasion that has nothing to do with the 'haves & have nots' it's about meeting new people & trying new things.. I think?...
Maybe I'm wrong but I really don't think the guys on this forum would be anything but happy & content to cater for anyone from anywalk... but please allow those who want to try a new experience first dibs...
So yes, I do understand it & Merry Xmas to you too!

Puff dont want to get off on the wrong foot but my point was that the more people that come the better, always nice to meet new b/sotl, the money, may or may not be a issue for me or for anyone do not make assumptions, but i was there when Ajay made the offer and he did so as to make it more accessible for every one (he is also a nice bloke).

Hi Pete, I think you've misunderstood me completely! Firstly, I have to say that I try not to make assumptions & there is no wrong foot to get off on.
I'm too long in the tooth to take offense at trivia.
My point again is that I do understand the more the merrier & I do understand because of financial restraints of some B'sOTL they may wish to smoke their own but unless I'm wrong the Herf will last approximately 4 hours. With a cigar & canapes already included in the cover price, just how many more cigars do you think people will smoke & enjoy in the remaining time! That's what I'm trying to say - 2-3 fair sized stogies, food, gossip... 4 hours gone.....I for one will, if attending, take a selected few of my own,(never leave home without 'em) not to smoke then but to hand out for people who haven't tried them to smoke later at their leisure but I'll be trying something I've not got in the humidor & meeting nice people I've not met before....

You mean you can't just turn up there during normal shop hours & "sample" one of AJ's finest?

Good thing perhaps that I haven't gone along with my notion to pop in unannounced on a couple of occasions recently.

BTW - don't count me in if working out ticket sales. If I make it at all, I'd have to leave before 7:00. I think I might be able to get there for about 4:00, (if it's allowed).

I would prefer to stick with the Friday & move the venue to somewhere that would takes us then - 10 Manch Street, perhaps?

To summarise:

- £25 for the event which includes canapes and cigar (The new RA Superiores- LCDH only)
- Arrive from 6pm but if you want to come earlier let me know
- Can bring your own Cuban cigars if you wish

Sorted!

+1 Well done Matt. I'll be driving as i can't be bothered waisting several hours on the train then getting stranded lol. I know you can park outside on the highstreet but i don't know for how long. The railways station round the corner only has 8 spaces and will probably be full. If anyone knows of good parking spots it would be good to know.

I've just looked up & found I can get there in 2 changes & 46 minutes so it looks like i'll be "working from home" that day (so long as this snuffle doesn't turn into a full-blown cold).

Do look it up on the tfl web site - Teddington has frequent trains from Waterloo as well as Richmond which is at the end of the District line.

What a great evening!

I am home, a little pished and very happy.

Ajay - many thanks for hosing and putting on a great spread. Once again very generous with your knowledge and some once in a lifetime smokes.

Mat - many thanks for all your hard work :)

Great to catch up with old friends and meet some new. I think there was more bottles of fine spirit on the tables than there were people.

I smoked:

H.Upmann Noella from the new jar. Really nice especially in the second half, going to be great in five years or so, lovely vitola.

Trini Ingenios ...my first of these. Very non-trini like, strong and spicy. In a blind test I would never know it was a trini.

Partagas Robusto Extra black label from the 2009 dinner. Surprisingly mild to start with but finished strongly.

Trinidad 1994 Lancero from one of the 14 (I think) boxes signed by Fidel Castro from the 1995 Paris 'dinner of the Century' ...this was a real treat for most of us ....Ajay does it again, simply stunning and probably never to be repeated :41:

I drank ....everything
I ate ...everything

Great turn out despite the snow and a fantastic evening.

+1 on a fantastic event. The food from shambles across the road was to die for, the quality and range of whiskeys and rum (only 1 bottle lol) that everyone brought was exquisite. However this paled into insignificance compared to the good company from the members, Ajay's natural flare as one of the most knowledgeable and charismatic hosts and some of what i can only describe as cigar porn to be offered. There really should be private booths for some of the cigars he showed us so you can appreciate them properly and privately lol. I can honestly say this was by far the event of the year for me.

Apologies to anyone who know has the dreaded man flu as i am totally blocked up this morning. The large quantities of lemsip and locket got me through the event but it may be a while before i can fully appreciate a cigar fully.

yeah what a day!

Lovely food, lovely whisky, lovely rum, lovely company

My Damages:

H.Upmann Noella. 1st third not much, from then on very tasty. Very good for a young'un

Monty 4 reserva... I dont think ive ever come across a small
smoke to have so much flavour

H.upmann Dunhill pre-embargo seleccion suprema (can't remember which!) - up there in the top 5 cigars I've ever had. incredible complexity for such an old smoke. smoked very very slowly, just incredible. smooth creamy start, some real power by the end, one of the few cigars i can taste things in - nutmeg, lemons, cream. YUM

Trinidad 94 lancero from the signed box! Would have been the smoke of the evening/week/year if it hadn't of come after the upmann!

:-)

A great afternoon/ evening and a really good turn out for UKCF despite the weather.

I started off with a Hoyo Des Dieux followed by the new RA Superiores and finally the Trinidad Lancero. Wow what a cigar! I thought the Partagas 109 was my best for the year but I think this just clinches it.

Thanks to Ajay for being a great host and everyone else for coming along and making this such a great event.

Happy Christmas everyone!

*this event was brought to you by Ajay Patel and Ron Zacapa (thanks Lascaux!!) ;0)

Thanks Ajay for a great evening, my first time in Teddington, great setup and venue, we were treated to some superb cigar porn and delicous canapes, booze a plenty, shame i had to catch that train though the ol booze was have a sedating effect, i'm glad our coughing didnt get in the way of some good smokes, i started with a San Cristobal Mercaderes very nice woody flavour, smoked a JL2 followed buy a vintage R&J .
Not too dissapointed the pole dancers didnt show, strewth theyd have thighs like tree trunks round those 18" pillars, another cure for ear wax.
Thanks again and a Merry Xmas to all . :santaclaus:

Top evening!

Great to meet everybody last night, and you couldn't really ask for much more from an evening - good company, plenty of delicious whisky, and fine cigars.

My first time at Ajay's and what a place it is! Big thank you to Ajay himself for such a fine spread, and it's great to meet someone with genuine passion and enthusiasm for what he does.

For the record I smoked an El Rey del Mundo Choix de L Epoque (UK 2009 Regional Cigar), the Ramon Allones Superiores, and Partagas Robusto Extra Black Label and thoroughly enjoyed the lot!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys and Merry Christmas! :biggrin1:

To all who come down for the UK Cigar Forum Christmas Party at La Casa Del Habano Teddington. With so much snow you all made it down...well done!...its amazing how far we cigar smokes would go to meet to good company and smoke great cuban cigars:).

You are all welcome and was a pleasure to have you all here, yes i agree so may bottle of whiskey and rum, was great to try so many...but the one i liked was Za Cappa...a perfect cigar match.

The H.Upmann Selecction Suprema was No87 from a Cab of 50's from 1960's.

Smoked the following cigar on the night!...

The H.Upmann Noellas jars, what a great cigar...started of with good flavour, good for a new cigar but yes the third part of the cigar was fantastic, a great cigar in about 5 years or longer...

The La Gloria Inmensos, a Sublime size...rich in flavour. still young..but wil be good..
Also smoked the Ramon Allones SUPERIORES, amazingley a very well made cigar, and good flavour...lots of nuts and cream flavour...

And yes. my last cigar...Partagas Robusto 2009 from the Partagas festival 2009...a well rolled cigar, good drew..but a few was too good of a drew(to easy)...rich in aroma, my cigar picked up half way down, with chocolate and dark coffee...lots of spice at finish...
Glad you all enjoy the food which was organized by my wife...she always does a great job...i can only organize one thing at a time...my cigars and which one I'm going to smoke that day....Thank you Bhavna.

You guys talk about cigar porn, i have cigar porn page/:) this is what you call a porn site!...

Sounds like a great evening... Ajay's is definitely the best place anywhere for anything cigar-related in my opinion and experience.

Real shame I couldn't make it (I'm really jealous having read the posts!)

Glad you all had a great time

Well, I finally made it back to Gloucester as the clock approached 1am...

Great afternoon and evening in excellent company (as ever when UKCF members meet up).

Excellent hosting by Ajay, thank you for providing an almost perfect venue for the event. The canapes were some of the best I've ever had, a great way of upping the energy just as the evening of alcohol and nicotine was taking its toll... :o

As for the cigars I had, I went with the H.Upmann Noella along with a few others. My thoughts on the cigar are pretty much in line with the others: nothing overly remarkable through the first third or so, but a strong finish. These will be lovely in a few years (they're not half bad now ;) ).

Then I had the Bolivar Simones (Canadian RE), which I have read many good things about. Very well deserved praise too, in my opinion. A really tasty cigar, strong, but smooth and tasty - not your typical Boli, but very nice.

As for the RA Superiores... I didn't have time to smoke that on the evening (what with having to get to Paddington before my train left...), but it's ready to be enjoyed at a moment's notice.

Once again, great evening, well hosted and in great company. Thank you all, and merry Christmas. :849:

Glad to hear you made it home at least before dawn. Did the bottle of whiskey you brought magically evaporate on the carriage?

Wasn't the Bolivar you had the same as mine which i thought was the French RE?

Haha! Thank you. Surprisingly little of the whisky magically evaporated. Once I'd swapped onto the 'sprinter' (if ever a train were inappropriately named...) which had no heating whatsoever I moved onto the King's Ginger for a bit of warmth... I swear, it was warmer outside the train than in...

As for the Boli, it was definitely the Canadian RE I had, fair bit smaller that the behemoth you were smoking. Not sure I could have coped with that before a good size meal! :biggrin1:

Got in a bit late as I had some late work to get done. Glad I decided to get back out as it was great to catch up with a few of you after my work related absence from the board...hopefully things will slow down a bit in the new year for me to get back here more often.

Since I got in late I was smoking one cigar so I made it count...Ramon Allones Phoenicia Lebanon RE. If you are a fan of fuller cigars this is a must try!

Thanks again to Ajay who amazed us with rare cigars and exceptional facilities. No better shop to enjoy a cigar in as far as I'm concerned! :hail:
