Greetings all!

Thought it would be polite to introduce myself. Only just discovering the world of cigars after an amazing trip to Cuba at the beginning of December.

Really wish I'd done more research before I went - the array of choice out there is mind-boggling!

Anyway, no time like the present for getting stuck in and asking loads of questions of you fine people!

All the best!

Will

Welcome! What sort of temps did you experience? Don't think it ever got below 30 on the two trips I've been on!

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome!

Think we just hit a cold-ish patch, was warm enough in Havana for the first 4 days and just got a bit chilly as we moved on to Varadero. Needed a jumper most evenings and it didn't get much above 25-26 degC during the day. Brrrrrrr...

Picked up a few singles from the Partagas Factory Shop, RyJ No.1's and No.2's and some Siglo II's... extended the collection at Duty Free with a box of RyJ Coronitas en Cedros DL which I've not smoked yet.

Really kicking myself for not picking up a wider selection at the factory shop! Easy to let these opportunities slip by when you're a noob to this game! Ho-hum...

Still, will be a decent excuse for a trip out there again - facinating country!

Nice to see someone from my area

I got into Cubans exactly the way you did after a trip over there in May this year:849:

Indeed! However, that then translated to 13-16 deg in the evenings which was very unexpected!

Hi Will, Glad you found a new hobby, every man should have one you know:smoke: There are cheaper less time consuming ones but few that invoke suck passion & pleasure. Enjoy your first year in the land of Havanas.:cowboyic9:

Hey there! Glad you enjoyed your trip to Cuba. Cbob mentioned it was chillier than normal when he went over recently.
I'd throw your credit card away now. :p

I discovered out there that smoking ties rather nicely with another rather serious pass time... I do a lot of landscape photography and sitting waiting for the sun to set with a nice smoke on the go is certainly a pretty pleasant way of passing the time.:41:

Dunno what to do about this cold tho! Cigar smoking in the UK has to be a summer job only! I'm going to have to buy some smaller sticks or my hand (and everything else) is going to freeze off!

Thanks for the welcome!

Cuba was great, trying to see how it's possible to get back there very soon!

Really enjoyed the Nacional, lady in the Cigar shop on site was pretty helpful and they had a decent selection to choose from. Havana itself has to be seen to be believed, we spent a lot of the time around the back streets just getting a feel for the place. Locals very friendly and it felt safer than most cities... was nice to get out to Varadero too, shame it was quite chilly there and the sea was quite rough as we had been hoping to do a lot of diving.

Hi Stevie! Hmmm... it does seem that this little hobby could easily make some serious dents in the plastic! I keep trying to work out ways to ease the cost of getting some stocks & choice in my humi... trying to tap up all my relatives & mates that are off abroad in the next few months!

Might have to see about a cheeky trip to Gib too!

Hints are good or do like I did this year, buy yourself a box of cigars, hand them to the missus and ask her to wrap them for xmas and stick them in the humi...Xmas Day comes round and you're laughing :)
