Ive seen both these cigars being compared to each other quite often. I have only smoked the monte no2 and loved it, but i have heard people say the diplomaticos is better.
Can anyone who has smoked both give me a comparison and tell me which one they preferred, looking to buy a box but cant decide which one.

Love them both. I wouldn't like to choose between them. The Dippys are of excellent construction, perfect draw. Highly recommended. Get some in!! :smoke::smoke:

Or how about the H. Upmann No.2?

Don't get me started on the Uppy #2!!! The best piramide of all (IMO). I'm half way through an 06 box and they're phenomenal. So much so that a mate of mine got the exact same box-code from the supplier once he'd tried them

Ramon - are you a fan too?

It's such an underated cigar. Always seems to be overshadowed by the Monte#2..

I haven't Steve, I do like Upmanns though, esp. the Mag 46 and Sir Winston. The No.2 is on my 'to buy' list.

Ahhh - the Sir Winston. an absolute joy. I've only had a couple of these as a box is hugely expensive but I loved what I tried. Have you tried the Uppy Monarca? Slightly milder but a high class smoke

Currently ageing my Monarcas

Hard to separate them. They're both very fine cigars.

Aaaaaaa....Now I've got it..
The old dig up an old Thread and get the Forum flowing again ploy, going on :thumb:
Did this many times in the Old CH. Days
Great idea tipp :clap2:

On this subject ... I have some Old Dippy 2's (02's or 03's) What a fine marshmallowie, toasty, mellowed out flavour they have now.
Also got some Monte 2's (09) Great youngish Cigar ..Chocolate with a spicy nutmeg twang... gone through a box since begining of Dec 2010 :smoke:

Damn fine smokes, and great company when the weathers with you. My Monte's are still a little young, but should be OK (crosses fingers) this Summer.

Smoked my way through a box of Monte 2 (09's) since begining of Dec 2010..just been a wonderful Cigar and plenty of downtime to Puff em Up.

I've never got on with the Monte 2 but I've still got a Diplo 2 I had from cj121 a while back. I shall have to give it a go. If I don't get on with that either I'll know why. :D

Gosh yes, an old thread.

I love the warm talk of the H. Upmann No.2 and Sir Winston. With a little age these are the best pyramid and Churchill in regular production, in my humble opinion. The Monarcas I wanted to try but out of production now. Upmann such a vastly under-rated brand.

As for the Monty and Dippy. I have never had a great experience with the Dip brand but an aged Monty 2 can be bloody good so that winds hands down for me.

I can't believe that I didn't comment on this first time around...

For the Dippy No2 v Monte No2 debate, I'm afraid I have to side firmly with the Dippy. A really great cigar in my opinion, especially with a few years on them.

Must try the Upmann No2, read lots of good stuff about them in various places, it can't be without merit. :849:

Neither was I Si. And even if I had been, I couldn't have contributed because I hadn't even smoked a Pirámides until mid way through 2010! :smoke:

I couldn't agree more T!!! I adore the Upmann range...the 46, 48LE, Conny#1, Sir W, #2....all fantastic!

Totally agree. I would opt for the Upmann before the other two brands.

I've had a few Monty 2s and really liked them. I've had a couple of Party 2s as well but didn't enjoy them as much, think they were maybe a bit young.

I've never had the dippy or the Upmann so they will be high on my to-try list.

I love most of the pyramides but the Upmann would for me be the best , great development of flavour starts quite mild but at the end ends up as strong as a boli

Feeling the calling of Upmann 2's myself. Tried my first Dip. about 4 months ago but think I must have managed to select a weaker stick as I found the draw incredibly tight, definitely time to try it again!

Recently smoked a lovingly aged '01 Uppy No 2 and wasn't in love as I had expected to be. Big, old school smoke but not as smooth/sophisticated as I had hoped.

I used to swear by Monte 2's but then started smoking Dippy's and prefer the flavour now of the Dippy. Best of all was the original Party Pyramid LE though and don't forget the Hoyo LE pyramid as well

The Young Montes (09 / 10's) I just love :41: Chocolate, spice, leather.
Pre (09) prefer the Dippys :41: Oaky, toast.
