Cutter,Scissors or a Punch?

...or maybe it's the ol' macho bite it & spit it out...

I have used them all at some time (except for the macho bit,my wife & dog both complained ;),and hey,it's embarassing when you have a cigar that comes away from your mouth wearing false teeth ).

My favourite is a Xicar style twin blade with wooden grips, gives a good firm positive cut which I find hard to achieve with a "normal" guillotine twin or single blade cutter (maybe because I have small hands).

Also,I have "twist" action & spring action punch cutters, these cut a nice clean plug but I find they can give a restricted draw with too much concentration of the tars etc. coming through the smaller hole can sometimes mar what would be an otherwise good smoke,so they are relegated to my keyring for emergency use.

Scissors,I find, require a level of finesse that I must be lacking (small hands again?).

So what is your preferred method and implement?

I've always got on best with cutters.

Very sharp double credit card size cutter, which also self sharpens...

Don't like scissors, and have a key ring punch for emergencys....

Its just got to be the cutter for me. I have a very simple double-bladed cutter I got for about ?15 I think. One day soon I'll get a nicer one. Never even tried any of the other options -if its not broke, don't fix it!

I've got a two way cutter I bought in havana - its cheap but it does the job.

I always remember some german guy cutting a huge chunk off his cigar at the hotel and one of the cuban barman going mad at him!

The Palio cutter for me. It's still cutting great after about 3 years of use. Plus it acts as a cigar holder too.

I have Xicar cutter and have never had a bad cut, it took me ages to get something, I could never decide which type to get, I used to use those free ones like you get from cigarsltd, when I moved house I found them everywhere, one managed to get stuck in the washing machine! much to my wife?s annoyance!
