Those are some cracking deals... what's the betting that when I go down later the shelves will be empty?

I work for them, this never happens, plus if it does ask when it's coming in and they'll offer to put a bottle to the side. (well they should at least)

I was implying that they'd be sold out on these specials by the time I get down there - always seems to be sods law for me...

Shouldn't ever happen though at Sainsbury's, they'll end on a Tuesday so believe these will be next Tuesday the 15th?

No special that's multi store should sell out so just ask when more is coming in, staff will be more than happy to check. They can also tell you when the offer ends, but it's also on the ticket that shows the price... in a small font, bottom or left side.

Should be plenty of these in stock though, due to valentines my store is full of them in the back, so an empty shelf may not mean none in store (although it should) so always ask, if you pop in later in the evenings 6-10 you should receive the best possible service due to the slow down in customers.

Sorry for the long winded post, it's about all I can offer definitive advice on this forum.

Hmm. Might have to give the Moet a go as I've not tried that yet.

Hmmm... I've already been labelled a pompous **** by one friend this week for having two bottles of Champagne in the fridge... (In my defence, one has been there for months now, it's not like I pick one up with each weekly shop). I'm sure one more wouldn't hurt, but I'm so strapped for cash I'm not sure I could justify even such a great deal.

(I wonder why I'm strapped for cash? Interesting trolley load at the till, a few bottles of champers and a week's worth of Basics noodles! :biggrin1: )

Just been into two different Sainsbury's looking for booze deals. I am not really after fizz as I have a glut at the mo but the Lanson Black Label for £14 is a grand deal. The Heidseck is an interesting off also. The Moet was missing in both stores and no mention of it being in the deal but it is utter toilet water anyway.

out of the 3 champagnes at £14 each, i'd say my favourite is the hedseick blue top!!! it's not as 'sharp' or 'bitter' as the lanson (which is also very nice)!!! i have to agree, moet is utter p**s water!!!

however, the tattinger reserve and veuve clicquot at £24 each is great value!!!

Ouch!
Fair criticism?
Well... possibly a touch on the 'harsh' side IMHO.

After all, it is what it is... a typical 'middle-of-the-road' non-vintage.

As someone who's spent a little too much time trawling the many miles of underground tunnels in Reims and Epernay, I feel beholden to offer at least a token defence of the 'Brand'.

For Moet has, at least, succeded in achieving something that is seemingly beyond many French Wine Houses, i.e. producing a mass market wine that maintains consistency from bottle to bottle.
(Even if some might argue its a bit like the 'McDonalds' of champagne - doesn't matter where you buy it, it always tastes the same).

Let's not forget, the same 'House' also produces Dom Perignon... and that 'mon ami' takes some beating (though of course, it costs quite a bit more).

Now... if somebody happens to see some bargain Bolly's... or a spot of jolly polly... sign me up!

I went to grab some today, the Moet offer wasn't on in the store I use. Picked up a Lanson...
