Hi. Just wondering what customs are. I see them mentioned on the forum and have no idea what where how why etc? Can someone enlighten this ignorant newbie please
Custom cubans are cigars rolled independently out with the habanos line. They can be rolled by famous Rollers such as Santos, Reynaldo, Hamlet, etc. Cigars from famous rollers usually command a premium compared to other customs.
H&F tend to bring a roller to the UK for a custom rolled cigar tour where you can have a bespoke cigar made for you.

Glad I'm not the only one Deano. I seem to have excise duty on the mind at the moment. Fun times ahead. :849: :)
On topic, I'm devastated that I still haven't had a proper custom-rolled Cuban yet. Having not taken the many opportunities I've had, I thought that I would get one from Sautter's last November (before the England v Samoa match), unfortunately that was the week that Hamlet was recalled back to Cuba...

That's why it is a perfect bloke hobby. You need research, technical knowledge, equipment and paraphernalia, a bit of mystery and now customisation!! The possibilities are endless and no one's ever right so the arguments can go on and on

Had a 'custom' wide rooobusto rolled by Hamlet early November, kindly supplied by Deano, cracking smoke!
Reminded me that fresh can be just as good in it's way as aged.
Smashing..
Ere Simon, weren't England shite.....

The were against Samoa, and I'm not sure that shite even comes close to describe yesterday's performance. Unfortunately I couldn't get drunk enough to forget the experience... They didn't turn up - if you can't fire yourselves up for a Grand Slam, what can you do it for? Hopefully Bananaman will never play in an international again (interestingly, a common link between the Samoa and Ireland matches? Banahan starting at outside centre). He's useless one-trick pony who was invisible for 60 minutes, then did his best to ruin every attack in the last 20 by thinking he could do it himself because he is big (might work in U12 rugby, but not when O'Driscoll's defending your channel...)
Anyway, slightly off topic there... :p

Yes mate!
It was yesterdays performance I was referring to! Dismal , to say the least.
Still, Banamans lucky to be playing at all after the murderous forearm to Kelly Brown last week..
swept under the carpet by officialdom or what!

When I went to Ajays I picked up a few for people, next time keep an eye out, if I'm at an event I'll pick you one or two up.

I've got some I bought when Hamlet was in Cardiff. I've had them just over 6 months now so toying with the idea of trying one...

I thought that with customs, if you didn't smoke them in the first week or two they had to be put down for at least a year before sampling? Would yours not be in the "sick" period?

I would have liked to have smoked at least one soon after but didn't get chance unfortunately. I know it's said that you should let cigars rest at least a year from rolling but some smoke great without that, and Hamlet said the tobacco was at least four years old (http://fistload.co.uk/blog/cuban-cigars/cuban-cigar-roller-hamlet-jaime-paredes-at-the-bear-shop-cardiff/) already so I'm considering it a risk worth taking. I may regret it though...
Rest assurred I'll let you lot know!
