Hi guys/girls ?
Well firstly i would like to say great community you seem to have here.
So, short introduction... i am previously a 42 yr non-smoker, in fact i was quite strongly anti-smoking at times !
I tried my first cigar last year in Vegas on a friends stag do after being talked into it and being a little worse for wear, a Rocky Patel, and to my absolute suprise i quite enjoyed it although i didn't smoke more than a third of it.
So, since then i have tried a few more back home in blighty maybe once a month and have started to apreciate the different flavours and am beginning to thourougly enjoythe whole process of smoking a decent cigar and enjoying a drink in the evening.
So far i have started off towards the cheaper end, my choices have been, Nub Cameroon which i enjoyed however didn't really get much taste from it, maybe due to my inexperienced palette, however it smoked well and was really well made.
Oliva Serie G Maduro Robusto - probably my favorite so far, for me was nice with changes in flavour right the way through and i smoked down to the last inch, La Rica Robusto - also enjoyed, Luis Martinez Hamilton Robusto - nice but had a little trouble keeping it alight and smoked a bit hot at the end but didn't ruin the experience, Diplomaticos No 3 - i thought this was good, again nice taste, Punch Petit Corona - bit of a mistake for me, probably too strong and left me feeling a little ill afterwards.
I enjoy my smokes with a 10yr old Laphroaig single malt which seems to compliment nicely.
So what can you more experienced guys recommend me as i am starting to get a little more adventurous price wise :biggrin1:
Many thanks.

Welcome onboard New Smoker, (hope your moniker doesn't seem too dated in a few yrs when you have lots of posts to your name), you seem to have made it past the first tentaive moves towards becoming a regular cigar smoker. Glad you enjoyed the Dippy No3; the Punch can seem Punchy, despite it's size, it's worth waiting until after a full meal before trying one again. Draw slowly & take your time & I expect you'll be smoking RASS before you know it!
Try the Hoyo & ERDM to start & work up to the medium strength brands. See you around the forums.

Hi New Smoker...

Nice little introduction...

As Simon says Hoyo (Hoyo de Monterrey) & ERdM (El Rey del Mundo) are excellent light smokes, maybe for the Hoyo look at trying the Petit Robusto and the ERdM the Demi Tasse or Choix Supreme...

Some other good ones to begin with are the H.Upmann Corona Juniors & any of the Montecristo 'Open' range...

Hope this is of some help...

Cheers, HabanoSy

Welcome mate, I'd go with what the chaps have already said. HdM Petit Robustos are a fave of mine, short but flavoursome smoke.

welcome to the Forum.

Go big ! Montecristo Edmundo, not too strong and very easy to smoke, otherwise a Cohiba Siglo 4, both will make sure you are fully hooked and both will go with your choice of Single Malt, which is also my house whisky.

Enjoy and try to stay away from NCs LoL :cowboyic9::cowboyic9::cowboyic9::cowboyic9::cowbo yic9:

Thanks for the welcomes....
Seanbeer..... by NC's am i right guessing you mean Nicaraguan cigars ?
If so any particular reason why ?
I apreciate Cubans are supposed to be the best and i have not chosen Nicaraguan for any other reason than price as i am just starting out.

Hi and welcome.

NC = Non Cuban - anything not Cuban.
