  • Cuba bound

I'm off to Cuba on Monday and i've read various threads on different forums about the factory tours.

I have been on one of the tourist trips that went onto Vinales and we had a 20minute tour around the upmann factory.

Does anyone have recenty experience of the tours, can you just walk up and join a tour ? How long do they last, how much etc etc

    Thanks

Very jealous... it's about this time last year I was gearing up to go to Cuba. Would have loved to have done the Vinales tour and grab a look round the Upmann factory. That brand is currently my fave, keen reaching for the Connie 1's, Mag 48's and the like.

      Hey Pooh,

I don't want to wish the first few days of your holiday away but I go to Cayo Coc on Thursday next week and I can't wait.

I won't get to any of the Factories in Havana as we aren't visiting (we did visit Havana last year, it was fantastic but at the time I wasn't smoking so we didn't tour a factory, doh!).

I am planning a trip to Trinidad though - does anyone know if the Trinidad factory is actually in Trinidad? If it is I will try and get a tour.

I'm looking forward to trying a wide variety of smokes and buying up my allowance and the wife's to fill my Humi - I'm down to my last 2 Cuaba Divinos. Shame the kids are only 14 or I'd have 4 allowances to go at.

Enjoy your trip Pooh, maybe we could swap stories on our return.

You can walk up at the Partagas factory but you have to buy tickets at the Saratoga hotel, the office is just inside the front door on the right.

The tour of Partagas is very good just don't be tempted by the guys selling you cigars outside, they all have factory badges on and will tell you that they (or their brother) works in the factory, but the stock they sell is sh!t.

BTW the building adjoining the back of the factory (if you walk round the amazing yard full of old trains) is actually the original H.Upmann factory once owned by part of Hunters & Frankau.

There aren't any factories in Trinidad that we were aware of, but its an awesome town. Alot of the the tobacco is grown not far from there. There is also a slave watch tower near (45 mins drive) from the sugar days. Its worth going to.
