  • Hi, new to the forum

    Hi All,

I am Andy, 44, living in no so sunny Perthshire, Scotland. Not the most regular cigar smoker, probably 1 a week. Got a humidor with some NC's but have just ordered, a five pack of Jose L Piedra Petit Cetros and a five pack of Montecristo No. 4, so I am looking forward to those arriving.

I believe that it may be advisable to allow the cubans a couple of months in the humidor to mature before smoking, with this in mind I thought that I might order something special for my birthday in May, any suggestions would be welcome, I like a churchill sized cigar for special occasions.

    Andy

Sorry it looks like I have placed this in the wrong place, serves me right for not reading things properly.

Hi there Andy, welcome to the forum. You are absolutely right to allow your cigars to rest in your humidor as long as possible. Certainly for at least a week after buying them or moving them to allow them to settle. If you're after a Churchill for your birthday then it really depends on your tastes. If you don't smoke cigars of that size very often then I would go for a Punch Churchill. If you like a full-bodied cigar then a Bolivar Gigantes is at the other end of the scale, very powerful.

    Sludgie

hi and welcome, RyJ Churchills usually do the job, for a different flavour profile the San Luis Rey is rather nice.

Hi Guys, thanks for the warm welcome. re the earlier post and my desire to get something to put in the humidor for my birthday in May, I have just ordered 3 Diplomaticos No. 2 which I will age until May also ordered 3 Sancho Panza Non Plus again I will give them a few months before starting them ( I have a good few NC which will keep my busy until then). I have only smoked a couple of Cubans before and I have decided to slowly add some Cubans to my humidor, I think for me starting slowly and working out what I like is the way to go.

Thank for this, I think the above will be geting most of my custom as there are no good cigar shops near me ( well not that I am aware of). I have bought some of thier budget NC before and the service was great.

Hello and welcome. As far as churchills go the RyJ is abit of a classic. But if you ask me the dippy 2 you have ordered is great as good and more consistant than than the famous monte 2!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.
