  • Was it worth it!?

Right guys, I want to see whether I like pipes or not, so, I purchased a pipe off ebay, something like Haojue, I know its some silly cheap thing but I though why not buy one and just use it once or twice to see if I like it? Will the cheap naff pipe make the experience much different than for instance one I can get from cgars for ?20 just to see literaly if I like the way it feels etc?
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers

One of the critical things about pipes is the thickness of wood in the walls of the bowl.

One with a thin walled bowl will tend to give a hot and unsatisfying smoke.
There is something to say for having a decent one, with a well known brand name, even to begin with.
The Dr. Plumbs Standard straight pipe on C.Gars at ?29.99 will be an excellent beginner pipe.

    Cheers
    Rod

I bought a corn cob to start, no need to break it in as they are not meant to last for long and at ?6-7 no real loss if you do not like it, have a good read of the pipe section on here, it will initiate you into the filling and lighting technique, it's not as easy as a Cigar but once mastered makes it a pleasant experience

My first pipe cost about ?20 from a tobacconist. It turned out to be totally unsuited to me, shape, size etc. I thought all pipes were the same, now I know better.
Through trial and error I have found that bent Peterson's suit me great, the balance feels right for me. I have about 6 of them now, and my favourite 2, well, one cost me ?40 brand new, and the other I got from ebay for about ?13.
You just have to find what suits you.
