So then, who's celebrating the slightly chippy man's birthday? A brilliant excuse to eat haggis and drink lots of Scotch.

I always have some friends round for haggis and whisky (I even do the 'neeps and tatties - I add some carrot to the swede for a note of sweetness in the mash).

Tonight will be no different, however, as I have a free day, I am planning to work my way through my whisky collection, enjoying an oversized dram of what I have in place at the moment (thankfully my latest delivery hasn't arrived or it might have got very messy...) The blends will be mixed with Canada Dry to aid with hydration...

A fine selection of malts there Simon.

    Enjoy!

Though how anyone can drink that 'Smokehead' stuff is beyond me..
Jesus.. I still can't get the taste out of my mouth even now.. (Shudders)

No pictures but working through the 'collection' sounds like a plan, not vast at the moment anyway, Glen Ord 25, Caol Isla natural cask strength and Caol Isla 12, a Bruichladdich 18 and some old pultney 12... So not too many but all good

Hadn't realised it was burns, great excuse thanks

Ahh Smokehead... I actually quite like it - it's always amazed me that something which smells so strongly of a mechanic's bathroom can taste so palatable. Not one of my favourites mind, the three to the right of it probably take those honours.

A fine selection indeed Zig - nothing to stop you having a couple of each though...

Well it's a curry for us first (haggis pakora anyone?) then back to the house for lots of talk of Wee Sleekit Beasties and some big flavoured whiskies. Usually Islay's on Burns night. We have a four year old cask strength heavily peated Bunnahabhain to break out, yum yum.

Unfortunately I am the only cigar smoker so won't be having one tonight.
