  • Green leaf - Help!!

Just been checking up on the humi and noticed a few strange things.

A few Diplomaticos No.4 have small patches of green in them like the leaf was turning green.
Now I have only had these about a week, I'm pretty sure that it wasnt there when they arrived. I looked around at a few things online and it mentioned something called green leaf. Is that bad and damaging to them.
I dont think it's the hygro just bought a digi one and calibrated it no problems and my humi sits between 68 -71% normally.
My montes have what looks like bloom and I thought great! but now I wondering if thats something else as well.

I'll try and get a close up of one later and upload
Any ideas? anyone had this before?

    Green.

Boss, you often get inconsistancies in the wrapper and I would not worry too much about it.I bought some Punch Punch a couple of years ago and after they had been opened I noticed 1/3 of then had small green patches in the leaf, but they were a great smoke; no problem at all.

Try and get some photos and let us see.

Ditto, they should be fine as long as they're not too big. The marks are often just imperfections in the leaf from when then grew. I believe it's to do with the chlorophyl and curing. Pics, like Mr. Whisk says, would be helpful.

I had 4xMonte Edmundos in a wee varnished 'dor (see my previous fetish posts ) and it had a wee humidifying element in it which came into contact with the foot of all 4 sticks. They subsequently went slightly greenish which I think was due to over-humidification/dampness !?!?!?!

That's what worried me, it was either the imperfections in the leaf or over humidification.
I'm thinking that my humi has settled down now. I had 2 oasis ans a gel tube just to keep it at 70%. I know it's not the hygro as I have calibrated 2 others and had them in there to cross check. I did think that it was crammed full of new sticks and they were sucking all the moisture up. I'm going to drop the humidity down a few percent and keep and eye on them. I've separated them out for now in case it spreads.

I'm not suprised yours went green with a "wee humidifying element" I put distilled water in mine. Is that some new age organic thing?

I think my problem was purely because the sticks had come into direct contact with the wet sponge in the humidifier. It's gone now that I've removed them from the mini-'dor

Ok, here are some pics. I'm getting worried it's mold of some sorts now.

I think you're ok. Looks just like the chlorophyll in the leaf that's been mentioned. I've had this in Monte 2's before and they smoked just fine.

Looks just like the chlorophyll in the leaf that's been mentioned. The strange thing is that I've never seen that happen with any other countries wrapper but cubas.Happened to me years ago. If U don't feel safe send them to me and I'll make sure they are OK to smoke.ROTL LMAO
                  U can't blame a guy for trying!

What's green leaf? I had a Partagas D4 last night and I pulled out a rather large green leaf sticking out of the end I had just clipped. Is that something to be worried about?

Hey guys, I had lunch with one of the UK's, if not the worlds experts on Cigars on Friday and I took the opportunity to ask him about green patches.

He said that it's simply small parts of the leaf that just didn't mature properly. It is nothing to worry about and should have no impact on your enjoyment of the cigar.

It cannot develop in the humidor due to over humidifcation.
