Well I seem to be escalating in my pipe interest having bought an introductory package a few months ago from Gauntleys.I've just picked up a Peterson from the bay and I'm now thinking about what to fill it with.I've had a look round at a few reviews and I've come up with The Peterson Nutty Cut as the next one to purchase.Any of you guys know it and can you offer any thoughts, good or bad?

Thanks Alex, that's two more I can add to the to try list I'm really working with a blank canvas when it comes to pipe tobacco so I'm willing to try it all. That said,it's always nice to find out what others have done and found nice as a guide.

Nutty cut is fantastic. I've got some delux and luxury, but nutty is better.

Ive not tried the Nutty Cut but can recommend Gauntleys Cherry and Vanilla as well as the Irish Cream. Both are very flavoursome, excellent aroma and taste lovely.

This site offers a wide range of 5 gram samples of pipe tobaccos:

It's a good way to try a variety of tobaccos without spending a lot of money and it means that you won't be stuck with 49 grams of a tobacco that you don't enjoy.

By the way, after trying a range of pipe baccies I've found that my absolute favourite is Mick McQuaid Plug: http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/mick-mcqua...h-p-11692.html. It has a cigar-like flavour with subtle hints of almonds and brandy, which I find to be delicious, but it might be a bit strong for a beginner. I tried smoking a pipe after browsing through the pipe forum here and I now have a couple of bowls a week. I find that it makes a nice change from smoking cigars and there's a huge variety of different baccies to try. I hope you have fun exploring them, I know I have!

Thank you crusse, and everyone for your input,I do appreciate it.I agree,it definitely makes a nice change of pace from cigars and there seems to be a whole other world of flavours to look at.My cigar smoking has taken a real dip of late in that it just feels all too humid and the last few sticks I've tried seem to have been an unequal struggle, sort of like trying to keep a damp dishcloth lit!! So I'm taking this opportunity to explore the pipe further
