  • Plantation Rums *****

Tried a 1993 Trinidad bottling of the Plantation series tonight with a little CoRo...very nice combo.
I'm not a reviewer by any means but I can say this rum holds it's fruity sweetness right through to a beautiful peppery/spicey finish.
IMHO well worth a punt if you come across it...

We did a tasting of them and they were good. Small batches imported to France and aged in Armagnac barrels (if I remember right ...a lot of rum was drank )

Was that the evening you started out on the Goslings? And finished up with a preference for the Zacapa?

No, this was at 1st James where I can't even remember what we started out on. Pete Johnston was there for a launch.

I haven't tried the Plantation range but I've heard good things about them. I only started drinking good rums fairly recently but I've really started getting into them! It started off as just something to accompany a cigar - I've never been a big fan of whisky but I find that rum and cigars are a match made in heaven. Then I started to become interested in rums in their own right. My favourite used to be Havana Club 7 year old but I now mostly drink Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva and Appleton Estate 12 year old. The Diplomatico is my favourite - nectar of the gods IMO. I'm always up for trying new rums, so thanks for the recommendation.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.
