  • So I got head hunted for a new job...

Hi chaps, hope you are all well. My recent cigar interest peak has come at the right time, as I was head-hunted for a new job yesterday, and offered it there and then to start this Monday. Perhaps now I can start growing my collection again now! Not really sure what to make of it really, as this is my first 'real job'. Previously I was self employed running my design and photo repairing biz (which ironically has been picking up alot this month).

I think a celebratory box order is on the cards! Or perhaps a sampler from somewhere (I am a sampler man I have to admit!)

The actual job is in a large print-manufacturing business, who have many big clients from the music industry and the likes of the NHS (they do the CD inserts, boxes, paper/card stuff, specialist finishing). I'll be on the PC doing my usual design'y stuff. My natural modesty is holding back some suppressed excitement I think, but I still feel so strange about the whole situation. It's all or nothing this life thing isn't it? They called me in and pretty much handed me the job as I've done freelance work for them before and they knew my shit, I suppose you could say I am 'stoked'.

Here's to good times! A lighter wallet, and a heavier humidor.

    How's UKCF doing these days?!?!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Buy more Party SD No4's, , on the print side, stay away from Reflex blue, 072 and Warm red, it really pisses of minders !

Partys were shipped today, can't wait to get my mits on them! So far so good on the job front, turns out they switched from quark to indesign a couple of months ago so that's a huge relief, also, new macs have been green lit, so good timing all around really!

Well done on the head hunt. I wish I was that lucky as a designer meself.

By the way, nothing wrong with Quark, despite Adobe InDesign is much more fluid and less of a dinosaur piece of kit lol.
