OK chaps, thought I'd put my first post in the "off-topic chat".

I'm an absolute coffee lover so thought I'd see people's thoughts on their methodologies and what they love.

My coffee is typically purchased from HasBean as I find they have some phenomenal blends and single estates that I'd rarely get to try otherwise.

At work I use an aeropress w/ freshly ground coffee (hand grinder really wakes you up in the morning...), and at home it's a modified Gaggia Classic with a Rancilio Rocky doserless grinder.



What do you use to get your fix at work and at home and how do you prepare it? And more importantly......let everyone know what coffee you enjoy!

this was 'on topic' only a few days ago, but what the hell, i'll add my pennies worth in again!!!

at work it's kenco peruvian or cafedirect machu picchu instant!!!

at home it's nespresso (too much variety to mention), french press with ground coffee (taylors after dark & hot lava java, cafe direct machi picchu & mayan palenque, cubita)!!!

My Mrs is a barista and competed in the UK championships a couple of years back.

I do love a good cup of coffee!

My latest try is some Jamaican "Marley" coffee I picked up from a small stall at Notting Hill Carnival.

I went for the dark roast "Buffalo Soldier" and its very nice indeed, goes great with a Trini Reyes.

I'm currently enjoying a cappuccino made with Red Brick from square mile coffee. A recent favourite was Finca la fany from hasbean. I have a filter machine at work, more often than not it has Tesco value ground coffee in it, which as the name implies is good value. At home i have a de Longhi cappuccino machine and krups grinder. The Mrs says i can upgrade when she goes back to work this summer, I'm hoping to persuade her it's worth investing in a rancilio Silva with rocky grinder!

I too have a Gaggia Classic at home with a Malkhonig Vario grinder and love my pre-work morning espresso. I tend to buy my coffee from RaveCoffee at the moment. They do free postage if you spend over ?25 so me and a colleague chip in together to get 8 bags.

Also got an aeropress for work but I've fallen out of love with it at the moment.

Yupyup! Coffeeforums is a damn good place for when you screw up . Right now I have to change the gasket on the boiler itself....not looking forward to it.....

How come you've fallen out of love with the aeropress?!

Once every couple of years I go through a few months of zero caffeine. Don't know why. it's just one of those things. I live to prove I can do it and feel what it's like to be totally stimulant free for a while. Sadly in my line of work (programmer) it's almost impossible to work without caffeine. I gradually get back on it. This time I've started with my morning espresso but not got around to taking the AeroPress back into work. It means grinding more beans in the morning on a different grind plus the cleaning up etc. It's just been easier to drink some milky gold blend instead. I know it's not coffee but it's not a bad drink in itself.

Haha. Small world indeed. I use ChimpsInTies for all my forums. Cars, motorbikes, coffee, cigars, HiFi. You can't beat a good forum for geeking out with fellow enthusiasts.

Yea Gods.......I'm an IT engineer myself, and without my coffee, work just happens exceptionally slowly.

In my aeropress bag, I have a small grinder (http://www.creamsupplies.co.uk/porle...prod_2707.html) which whilst it is inefficient, is phenomenal when you've either forgotten to grind your beans, or if you just want to travel around with the aeropress.

The trick I use it to fill up the grinder, grind the full quantity, and fill up the grinder again, that way you have enough for about 3-4 cups (yes, I know that the pre-ground stuff will get stale rather quickly, but it will still be better than work filter or instant stuff).
