  • Just came in!

My friend just brought these lovlies for me from Dubai Duty Free. Whilst I'm a regular to the PSDN4 the Vegas Robaina Unicos are a first for me. Has anyone tried? please share your views. I think they will be in the Humi for a month or so before i try one. That's assuming I can wait that long. At first impression they are very impressive to look at and feel and smell superb.

The Unicos are a great smoke. They were on special offer while I was in Cuba last, and I smoked a bunch of them. You'll like!

        Yummy!

The PSDN4 are always a good solid choice.

Might have to free up some space and do some shopping myself!

I had a Partagas on Saturday night. I don't know which one it was exactly as it was a gift but it was bloody lovely.

Contrary to popular opinion, Although I fan a fan of Party's I am not so impressed with the Series D No4. But the VG Unicos is a wonderful smoke, best with a few yrs on it though. Note yours are only a yr old so if you can't wait a couple of yrs to try one, then somke one every 3-4months & the second layer will be aging nicely by the time you get to it. Here's a few pics from my photo library:as ypu can see they put a smile on my face,VR.Unicos.2009.09.26.Picture 066.jpg VR.Unicos.2009.02.21.034.jpgsometimes they help contemplate the worldVR.Unicos.2011.06.08..jpg & they definately go well with BelgianVR.Unicos.2011.06.08.SAM_2892.jpg beers!VR.Unicos.2009.02.21.009.jpg

Like Simon I've no affection for the PDS4, but the Unicos is a magnificent smoke.

But hey, there your choices not ours .... you enjoy them Bombay!

I've had some amazing PDS4s. Just the last few years seem to be very mild, without much happening. Maybe they need serious age.

The weird and scary thing. I took the Unicos out of the box and started loading the Humi and i saw what look like a beetle type bug and immediately flicked it off. I then squashed it. Not to hard but enough to kill it. I tried to look close at it but it was a bit of a mess.
Having said all the above I emptied out the humi and inspected each cigar both new and old and found nothing untoward. i even vacuumed the humi out and restacked everything.
My dilemma is could it have been a tobacco beetle or was it just another bug in the air at the time. secondly the entire collection is of Cubans approx 120 or so and i cant risk them getting ruined.
Do i start the freezing process or keep a close eye out every day or so to see if i notice anything.
if i am to freeze, shall i put them back in to the original boxes and wrap in clingfilm and put in the freezer? I dont have a deep freezer only a fridge freezer. Will it do.

Know how you feel Bombay ..... anxious, skin crawling. Happened to me and my 50 count, I saw something leave the humi out of the corner of my eye. It was probably just a small moth or something equally harmless but I couldn't be happy until I'd removed the lot, cleaned out the humi and put them through the 'freeze' routine. Like yourself, I don't have a chest freezer, so I divided them into suitable size batches in small tuppa containers which I kept in the fridge while I froze what I could in the freezer, container with most expensive cigars in first and so on.
If you want to, you can.
