  • I've just published a book!

Okay guys this is a shamless promotion of my book, I know. However it's not like I've not posted on this forum before or helped anyone, and I like cigars!

So here goes, I self published on Amazon and here is the link to my book CLICK. I've been writing the book for the last 2-3 years and decided to publish since literary agents were not interested and I was spending months waiting for them to reply. Time in which I could've been writing a new book.
I write for my own pleasure and don't expect anyone here to buy my book; however if someone has a kindle and decides to take a look then I'd appreciate their thoughts on it.

    Agricola.

Sounds interesting, like the phrase 'contains themes of an adult nature,' hope you enjoy some success, have a cigar!

Thank you, I don't intend to get rich quick and land a film deal by next spring (though I wouldn't have a problem if I did!) but Amazon allowed me to publish the book so I could move on and get back to writing.
The "themes of an adult nature" is there to tantalize the potential reader but also warn any parents from purchasing the book for their child's kindle. There are themes of a very adult nature concerning both violence and romance which I wouldn't want my daughter to read. However the most embarassing part is when your mother reads it!

I have the utmost respect for anyone who can write something to completion.

I have a number of books part finished which I keep threatening to get to.

I need a discipline upgrade to get there though.

            My sincere congratulations to you.

Self-publishing is changing the landscape, it seems that traditional publishers (the smart ones) are using it as a tool. Instead of making lots of contracts with new authors they monitor e-authors in cyber-space. When one is a success they move in and try to sign a contract with him/her; since they don't need to waste money taking so many risks they can plough that into the fewer contracts they do make.
This is why many of the authors that are signed to trade publishers but are not in the top 1% of the publishers portfolio can be quite defensive concerning E-publishing.

Kevree, my advice would be to just write, try listening to music depending on the mood you want to come out on the page and just write. You going to revise and edit it anyway so don't be worried about not writing something good enough. I spent almost as much time proof reading and editing my novel as I did writing it. Put a crap ending in, that's fine because while your revising your book one day a light will come on and you'll suddenly have that ending you were searching for.

Congratulations my friend! I will be checking it out on Amazon. Check out my site at www.tandbpublishing.com. You might be interested in the new format I'm building for self-published authors.

We should get on Skype for a chat and a cigar too. Good luck!

Just purchased on Amazon America/India site. Will dive into it this weekend.

Check out our latest short story by Michael Chandley titled Sweepstakes. It's a short story, it doesn't have cigars in it, but it's still pretty funny.

                            So that's who it was!

As you can guess I can't quite afford to move to Havana and start up my own cigar factory yet! But thanks for the purchase, please let me know what you think of it once you've finished the book.
