  • New Cubans from a very good customer! - Updated, advice needed!

A few weeks ago i posted that one of my customers was visiting Cuba for the 2nd time and offered to bring my some sticks back. Just down at her office and shes just presented me with a box of 25 Siglo 2's and 4 Siglo 4 tubos! Im 99.99% sure they are the real deal as the box looks right and she is well aware of fakes and to only buy from a proper shop.

She hasn't given me the bill yet so any idea how much these would have cost her in Cuba? Shes waiting for her credit card statement to come through with the exchange rate etc, but ive just looked at the UK prices on c.gars!

Will post pics later once im home.

Update: Need some advice on the state of the sticks, please have a look at my pics posted on the 2nd page.

Should be 50-70% less than UK prices. Ask here where she got them and post up some pics but hopefully all fine.

Now all you need to do is leave them for 3-5 years

Ok here are a few quick snaps from my phone, not opened the box yet but the siglo 4's smell fantastic! Defiantly need some age on the 2's as they are from this year.

In July 2012 the price of a box of Siglo II in Cuba was CUC173.25, about ?108.20 at today's rate.

Single Siglo IV: CUC9.75, about ?6.10

Thanks Monkey, fingers crossed for closer to the 70% mark, I was expecting her to bring me a few singles or fivers!

Sounds encouraging, thanks Smallclub! Just need to leave them alone for a few years then....

Ok chaps, im a little concerned now. Broke the seals and opened up the box when i got it home found this:

                        2012-10-17 19.11.38.jpg2012-10-17 19.12.14.jpg2012-10-17 19.12.52.jpg2012-10-17 19.13.23.jpg2012-10-17 19.14.02.jpg

Is this mould? Should i be worried? What should i do?

Sorry but it looks like Mold to me.

If its in the root you can bin it or cut a good lump off. Wipe the rest off and they should be good

Yes, definitely, you best send them to me to dispose of them for you just in case you get something nasty! lol!

...TBH await a more experienced answer than mine but i do not think it is anything to be concerned with, i had exactly the same on some Epi's, they cleaned up a treat and I had no issues with them.

I just cleaned them up with a damp cloth (although it was mentioned by a member to use pure alcohol) so they were spotless and let them sit in the open for a few days to get a really good airing then somewhat reluctantly put them in the humi, had no problems!

I hereby quote Monkey66 when he posted on my thread,

''The covering is 100% mould. Brush it off, clean the box and should be ok. If you want to go further (or if it returns) you can wipe the cigars and inside the box lightly with a little Isopropol alcohol and this will kill it all with no detrimental effect"
