UKCF Code of Conduct

Despite other sites not allowing newbies to their closed board(s) and the fact that 99% of the rudeness you'll see on this forum is directed to trolls from other forum(s), I'd like to introduce a code of conduct.

These aren't rules. But they're something I'd like everyone to attempt! That's why they're written 'informally'.
This will grow with suggestions from other people.


UKCF Code of Conduct

1. Be respectful to new people on the forum, and especially people new to cigars
   • Don't simply say 'search the forum' - point them to an example article, and then suggest search possibilities
2. Play nice with others - if you've got advice or someone is actually wrong, influence them with a kind word, instead of being an ass
   • Don't be aggressive with your 'advice' or corrections!
   • Make sure you're right!
3. Members and mods are not perfect. If someone gets funny or you think they intended to be rude, contact them or me or a mod first before giving them a mouthful back!
   • Sometimes sarcasm or wit isn't easy to identify on the web - you may have taken it the wrong way! Ask someone else, or get someone to moderate between you
4. If you have a problem, consider talking to me over PM about it, before you go public - I might be able to resolve it before it goes further (but no promises!)
5. More ideas please....

6. Resist the temptation to formulate posts based only the proceeding post. Whenever possible read the entire thread to obtain a clearer picture on which to create discussion or debate.
