  • Glenkinchie 12

How fabulous, how wonderful! Not only is it the weekend, which is a joy in itself, but I was so pleasantly surprised to find poking out of the Friday shopping bags a bottle of Glenkinchie, bought for me by my dear wife.

I had been giving some thought, though not too seriously, to smoking cigars less frequently than at present until the weather warms up, but I think I shall now ditch that insane notion and indulge.

Why not just do it in a shed or a garage with a heater set up? That's what a few of my mates do.Why only limit yourself to one when you can both and AT THE SAME TIME!?

Also, what are some notes for the Glenkinchie 12YO? I've never really got that one as it's always seemed a tad expensive than others for a 12YO lowland. Also cause it's never really been hyped up towards me either..

It never happened - I just smoke 'em in the house and make do with a couple of days with the room stinking. In terms of using the garage, it's a negatory due to no electricity (hedge trimmer made short work of that), therefore no lights or electric heater, I have no gas heater, and certainly no space.

Glenkinchie - Well, I've never really been one of those chaps to speak of tasting notes. At least, not in the sense that I could pick out notes of honey, vanilla, or even the minerals in the water which have been dissolved from the rock down which the waterfall tumbled. I can, however, tell you that it is a light and crisp dram, which reminds me of summer.

In terms of price, Morrisons have it on offer but I can't remember the price. ?33.00 comes to mind.

Well my mate actually got a 500 CAD plastic shed from the local hardware store and set that up as an attachment. We can easily fit 6 people in there and it's nice for keeping the "non-smoking" status on your house value. Had to bring extension cables and shite, but well worth it.

And yea, i konw what you mean. I can always taste the orgy of flavours, but could never pick out the individual ones.... Is it like, smokey or so? Or peaty?
I think you mean that it's sweet and goes down easily?

But yea, from my shed comment up there^^ I'm canadian so i don't really know where those are. But a quick search tells me i've got it here for $85 (or 54.65 GBP). WELL over how much you pay for the 12 YO.......

Shed sounds a very attractive way forward, particularly when other fellow tobacco enthusiasts are concerned and looking to get together.

Glenkinchie is not smokey in the least bit, far from it, it's a Lowland whisky, whereas the smokey whiskies are generally from up north in the Islay region.

It's a dram that spreads rapidly over the tongue and searches every corner of the mouth, whereas some other whiskies are more viscous in their character, and you have to roll 'em about a bit.

I don't think it's a dram to rave about, but for ?33.00 it was worth a blast, and 'up there' with the rest at similar price.

            Oi! Lookie there:

Talk about it one day and other blokes get the idea the very next!! But yea, if you're serious, it looks like the hardware stores in the UK seems a tad more expensive than the ones here in Canada.....

And alright, for as much praise you're giving it, i can spare a good 55 quid on it.
