    Small grumble.. Not.

Why are trains so shit. Had a meeting in Leeds today (cold as and dumping snow), missed the 15:15 to kings cross so got the 15.45 no worries. Sat down beer open, film on all snug and comfortable.

Ding dong - "train is cancelled as a train has broken down in Doncaster please leave train." rail updates/info non existent and announcement that all trains to London are cancelled until further notice.

Waited an hour and still no change..

No worries i thought I'll go to Manchester and then London. So go buy my ticket and upon coming back to the concourse find everyone running back on the train we got off and timetable shows London train now not cancelled. Run like the wind and just grab a seat on the now packed train. Sit down, get comfy, film back on.

Ding dong - "glad every one is now out of the cold, the train is still stuck in Doncaster and we have no update other than that. We will let you know if anything changes"

Have now missed train to Manchester! 30 mins later we get on our way. Got into kings x at 8..

Clearly feb 13th is not my day!

Not been on a train since I was sixteen..that's at least a couple of years ago...
If I have to travel any distance now that might involve drink & cigars, a good friend will drive me...
might all change if the flying lessons go to plan..

The last time I went on a train was in 2007 to watch rugby at Twickenh. Stood all the way there from Bristol and all the way back. Fabulous time and that's why I drive everywhere now

Once, was going up to London from Plymouth. Get to the station nice and early and find all trains cancelled due to a death on the line (won't get annoyed at something terrible like that happening), so some very nice person offered me a lift to Taunton, in the hope that there would be a train I could get from there.

Was told at Taunton station to get a train to Bristol and then change for a train to London. I was also told that this train only had 2 stops before Bristol, but it turned out it had 7. So I missed the next train to London and missed the appointment I had with the knee surgeon (didn't need surgery as it turned out).

Wasn't at all annoyed about the cause for the delay (accidents happen), but was severely peeved that I was lied to by the staff at Taunton. Was so angry that I didn't even stick around at Paddington to demand a refund (which I got later after a lengthy phone call to the train company). Walked out of Paddington swearing loudly enough to be told to quieten down by a passing policeman.

Went straight to a cigar shop and smoked a Party P.2 to calm down, which worked a treat.
