  • Any fossil fans out there?!

Odd question I know - but cigar people are KNOWLEDGEABLE people...

Was out walking the dog when I came across the attached rock/fossil. Looks for all the world like a dino tooth. Any idea how I can find out what it is?

Looks like the end of a tusk, interesting find!

A local museum would be able to identify it for you, I know friends who have found a few strange items and taken them to New Walk museum in Leicester.

Just poking out of the ground. Immediately looked unusual. Stone age cigar punch! Good one. Prefer a guillotine cut though

Thanks Dave, I'll have to have a search and see where is nearest to me...

well from the second picture, it definitely resembles some sort of trunk of a tree or something, maybe even a branch or some shite.
But i'd put money on a tooth. That. or if the shawshank redemption has taught me anything, it's the petrified shite and other material can be broken like putty.

Looks like a tooth to me, which coastline are you on? Definitely take it to the museum.. I've seen trex teeth and they don't look dissimilar to that!

Believe it or not, I'm about as far from the sea as it's possible to get - north Bucks! It was found poking out of some plough... I think it's a dinosaur tooth, can't really see what else it could be. Trying to discover the best local museum to take it too...

Going by his logic, you might be able to get a few hundreds off Ebay.
Who knows, i've seen Madonna's gum go for a few tenners, so what the hey.
