I know this is a forum set up for poetry, finding lost Mexican relatives and the display of depraved American Pornography collections so I hope you won't mind me asking a Cigar question:

I am getting more and more fascinated by the different names and sizes of cigars and I wondered if anyone here could illuminate me on the origins and size of:
    • Civetta/chivetta (not sure how that's spelt)
    • Cheroot

Is the top one the roller's cutting blade?
    Or is that a cheveta?

I don't know the origins and I only know of one "Cheroot" out there. That is the La Flor Dominicana Cheroot, it is 5.5 x 38 and 100% Ligero. Never tried one myself, but can imagine it is a powerhouse!

        Funny guy!

I think cheroot is slang, a bit like stogie? I'll bring out the amazing UrbanDictionary.com (with etymology!) again for that one. Not heard the other one I'm afraid.

The Cheroot is a cylindrical cigar with both ends clipped during manufacture. Since cheroots do not taper, they are inexpensive to roll mechanically, and their low cost makes them particularly popular. Typically, Cheroots have a length of 3.5 to 6.5 inches, and a ring gauge of 34 to 37.

The word cheroot comes from French cheroute, from Tamil curuttu/churuttu/shuruttu - roll of tobacco. This word could have been absorbed into the French language from Tamil during the early 16th century, when the French were trying to stamp their presence in South India. The word could have then been absorbed into English from French.

              Here endeth the lesson...!!!

              Cheers, HabanoSy

Comes from them there third world, pissant, uncivilized, godless places (like Russkieland and Frenchland) where they don't know that lookin' at pitchers of nekkid new-bile wimmens will have you burnin' in Gehenna for all of eternity or maybe even longer . Hell, most likely them unworshed heathens don't even have pornographs.
