  • Damn cheap cutter

I really must invest in a decent cutter. My Petite Edmundo was thoroughly ruined and completely unravelled tonight.
Hmm, to cut or to punch?

What a coincidence: in some haste this afternoon, I pulled a cheapo cutter out the draw today and lopped a Bolivar PC. Frigging ruined it. It would also have unravelled, but I put it back in the humi and it will get some love from the glue. It's a bloody waste ay. Invest in something decent for sure.

I'm more inlined to go down the punch route; I think you can get a better seal with your lips.

you know, playing classic guitar, i have long long nails..
Sometimes i rip out a whole in the cap with my thumb and middle finger. It works quite well for me, no unravel and great draws. I find that to be the cheapest

Tend to use a Xikar V Cutter but it depends what mood I'm in. My punch broke so haven't used one for a while.

Suppose it depends what cap your stick has at the risk of stating the bleeding obvious!

Have been through a fair few in my time, but Xikar xi gives the most reliable clean cut....not cheap but you gets what you pays for

Well if you're really desperate for a good cutter as this moment, try to sharpen the blades with some high quality sand paper (don't believe aluminium oxide is sufficient, but not sure right now). Roll it into a small pen shape and sharpen as you would a knife.
Or, use a sharp kitchen knife and just score a cone shaped opening in the cap. Itll be like a punch cut, but a tad deeper.

Haaaa, if you don't mind committing a sin worse than having no cigars

On that note, i did have to do this with a cigar Sunday:

Cracked on the binder new the cap. Fuck, had to do it. I was picking out pieces of tobacco out of my mouth for like 10 minutes. one of the most annoying cigars i've ever had.
Just for an idea of HOW much i had to cut off to avoid the crack:

I've done that before haha.... using a knife to make a punch style hole in the cap. Didn't do a bad job in the end. Desperate times, desperate measures.

Didn't fancy biting the end like that old basketball player on his 105th birthday. Could you imagine doing that all your life then suddenly you get dentures? Wounder!

Worth trying to get your hands on a Xikar cutter due to the lifetime guarantee. A few of the models aren't too unreasonably priced for a cutter that is going to last you a lifetime!

Didn't realise Xikar was lifetime guarantee. Now where did I put those receipts?
