  • First pipe smoke.

Been trying lots of cigars this year. Got into them as they seemed less of a commitment than a pipe, but since taking up smoking I have still wondered about a pipe. Last month my Dad dropped of some old nick nacks and junk from his grandparents for me to look after while he is away travelling and amongst the stuff was some st bruno flake tins.
Well I wanted to give some st bruno a try. My wife isn't keen on smoking and told me cigars were ok but pipes are what her grandad does. Anyway I sold a guitar amp today and took the money to
a local smoke shop. I got a czech made tamping tool, some cleaners, some st bruno ready rubbed and browsed the pipes.
Saw some cheap ones and then noticed the petersons. I ended up with an Aran 268 zulu shape with fish tail and no band. Lit up in the garden in the lovely sun shine and enjoyed my first half bowl of st bruno flake. Just thought I would share my experience with some folks who might appreciate it. Cheers

Youll find pipe smoking to be nice and cheaper than cigars . Its also more conservative on time sometimes. Also, it's MUCH more wind resistant. Pipe smoking is quite nice

I shred fake cigars to make cheap blends of tobacco. Any cuban tobacco is good tobacco

I enjoy smoking a pipe. My favourite tobaccos are SG Best Brown Flake and Full Virginia Flake which I particularly enjoy smoking in my Ashton bent Rhodesian pipes. Also enjoy smoking both Condor and St. Bruno on occasions.

Have a great week and enjoy your pipe and any cigars you might smoke. It is raining outside presently but hopefully the weather will improve again over the weekend so I can get out and about and enjoy smoking my pipe and maybe a cigar or two as well.

                    Hello,

I'm mainly a pipe smoker (2 years) and I have only scratched the surface on all aspects. Once you start looking at different tobacco your hooked soon it will be more pipes ect. I want to get into cigars to a very occasional change of pace.

                    enjoy

Patience and practice are the key to enjoying the pipe. That, and learn to smoke slow to avoid tounge bite. Give it lots of time and lots of practice, and you may find pipes just as enjoyable as cigars.

                        Hello,

I'm mainly a pipe smoker, a cigar is just for a change of pace. You will find pipes are more relaxing, easier on the wallet (unless you start buying dunhill pipes ect) and I'd say has a wider choice by the fact of sheer number of tobacco, pipes and combinations of the two. You have jumped into a world of endless possibilities.

Enjoy it it and don't try too hard
