  • So the cigar is nearly out

Hi guys just a newb question, you leave your cigar for a couple of minutes and its nearly out, do you draw slightly heavier hope it picks up and risk it burning too hot, do you just relight it or let it go out snip the end and start again, assuming there is plenty left to smoke.Regards

I'll swing both ways, where that's concerned: a bit of heat and a good tug if required.

Oh, good question. I've never thought of snipping it. I might give that a try. normally I like to tease it back to life.

I'd try the 'suck harder' method first. If it overheats and affects the taste I'll blow through the cigar to clear the smoke inside, then leave it for a minute to cool down. If that fails once, I'm getting the lighter out.

Blowing through is always a good idea Dave, to get rid of any stale smoke, with you there, although I do it before lighting. Once you start thinking about what is involved, there's potentially lots of technique, isn't there?

I give three short quick puffs and then a regular draw. That usually gets it going again.

gently draw it back to life,2 or 3 hits at a time for a few times .Once it regains it luster ,I'll blow through the cigar to clear the tar build up inside. If that fails,I'm getting the lighter out.

It depends. If is a slim panetela like a La Gloria Cubana MdO #4 I relight it, because I don't want to get it too hot, but if is a Partagas SD#4 in just give it a few puffs to get it going, and if unsuccessful I relight it.
