  • Can the Aussies raise there game for the Ashes

I can forsee England coasting the series in every department. I hope I'm wrong in this assumption as I want a good scrap. But, hmm. I just can't see the Aussies scoring enough runs against a mediocre bowling attack let alone our formidable four of Swann, Finn, Anderson and Broad.
Not checked news past week or so but I'm also wondering who will open with Cook ?
    If..

Personally I'd like to see Root open the batting with Cook... I also agree that we should trounce them as they are a shadow of their former selves, HOWEVER they do have a nack for conjuring amazing young talent out of nowhere. Not to mention that we usually fare better as underdogs!

I think your right about Root but I do worry that its a bit too early and may have an effect on his form. I feel a bit sorry for Compton but to put him back in the fray as an opener after that NZ performance can only harm his long term career prospects in the test side. There is no hiding place as an opener in an ashes test and if hes feeling the pressure opening against NZ, hows he going to feel on Test 1 on day 1 facing ball 1.

Think the aussies are now a spent force, with Clarke doubtful at present, there's not a lot of test match quality batting in their squad. I'd like to see a close but not that close series - besides you can't beat taking the piss out of aussies when they're loosing

Australian friend of mine has already been making excuses on Facebook, which is a great sign in my book. DT today says they are in disarray with Michael Vaughn sticking the knife in delightfully.
The fact that their 'feisty opener' has to pick on one of the smaller England players and then can't even land a decent blow speaks volumes.

I hope they play crap and we smash them out of sight and put them in their place
(sorry if you are reading this Sam, not really, you diggers can take it!!)

I'm afraid to say that all of the above is spot on and it will be a rout.
Ten tests of misery in front of us methinks.
