  • 31st Anniversay Falklands Surrender

Today is the anniversary of the Argentine surrender of the Falklands Islands. Unfortunately due to a family bereavement today have been unable to mark it significantly (just raising a glass of Belgium beer as I type) but hope to do so tomorrow.
For those members who have joined since last June & have an interest; if you do a search you should find my little story, nothing to add this year but maybe next.
For those who came back in one piece, light one up & remember those who are still on patrol. R.I.P. For those who still suffer in mind or body, please seek the appropriate help you need; if you wish you may contact me & I will try to point you in the right direction.

References from the Final Cut and my Argentinian friends have given me a weird sense of sorrow for all the lads involved in the conflict in general....
Didn't know it was the 31st anniversary and I do offer my condolences if it's worth anything. Terrible that 31 years later, people still feel the conflict in something the rest of the world seemed to have forgotten. Nary a blurb in our local Newspaper about it even..
    R.I.P. indeed.

Thinking of my friend who was on Invincible. Went to the Gulf after too.

He's retired too now and he was responsible for introducing me to cigars.

      Thanks Crash!

Indeed an important date to remember with both pride and sadness. I have taken time today to remember our servicemen (and civilians) who gave their lives in the pursuit of the rights and freedoms of the Falkland Islanders. Important too to spare a thought for those lost on the Argentine side - conscripts who had no choice but to fight in an illegal invasion.
