Full of cold for the past week.

Meaning I can taste nothing! - No point in even sparking up one of my R&J churchills which I was looking forward too all week

Any old school/home remedies for aiding recovery?

I know its not gentlemanly but, if mucus is playing its role then spit it out, do not swallow, i think this speeds up recovery. eat raw garlic (watch out for repercussions though). Also a mug of hot water with sliced ginger, lemon juice and a good spoon of honey mixed in. Get that down your neck whilst wrapped up warm and sweat it out, eat the ginger afterwards too!
    get well soon

I make meself two pints of peppermint sage tea and go to the sauna at my workplace. One of the best cures I've found
Maybe some herbal gin if I feel it

Aye. I learned that's a prevention method. Once you pass 100% Daily dosage, you need not get anymore as it won't do need anymore after that. But you definitely need the required amount! Leafy diet will rid it faster though.

Best way is just supporting the body's natural mechanisms. Sauna works cause it makes your body hott as well ss encouraging you to drink more water. Water is very necessary Another way is exercise. That helps quite a lot too.
Herbs like Sage, Salvia, and mint all help to reduce mucus and sores naturally (screw all the shite you get in OTC). And yes, removing phlegm helps too

              Sauna? now your talking mate!

I'm a massive fan of the finnish sauna (and russian banya) I usually go once a week - problem is this week I've had double vision with this damn cold and didn't feel much like driving.

I'm led to believe in Canada sauna is very popular due to the large amount of scandinavians that settled there? Is this true

Hmmm. That's actually awesome. We just use a damned dry rock one.
Our old house had a sauna but it was never touched because I've got access to a free one at work!
However, I can say with reasonable confidence that many a mate of mine haven't even been in a sauna. They're MOST likely much more popular in the Northern areas rather than toronto. This is because of their cheap electricity rates and the fact that they have to endure an ACTUAL Canadian winter . Also because most Scandinavians who settled were farmers alike who will go north into rural regions rather than urban regions like Toronto.
There's some tidbits of Canadian knowledge for ye

                  Hahaha, your a legend mate.

I imagine in the winter a pipe must be a nice smoke after a good sauna.

Hmmmmm.. I would imagine so. Never thought of that though......... Hmm

I guess a sauna could also work as a cheap walk in humidor if you do some adjusting and fidgeting with some Spanish cedar or glass and some caulk.
Maybe one day Jeremy....... Maybe one day.
