I've been to various parts of America and lived in a bit of it.... In my (admitedly limited) experience of the country the Americans are welcome to it. Most of it isn't even close to the sea.

However, I have to differ with you. I took a solo motorcycle ride around the great land to the north in 1975 and had a totally different perspective than you, I suspect.
