  • Need advice on new pipe

After about 8 weeks with my cheap corn cob
My wife has snapped it in two ( don't ask me how ) I need a new pipe
Been looking on eBay for a second hand one
(Peterson) but how do you clean it be for you use it?
Of is it worth buying a nice new one
My wife did go out to town today and got me a new one before I got home but it seems to be made of Bakelite with a metal filter
Any help would be good guys

Welcome, I followed this instructable http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...n-estate-pipe/

My most used pipe is something along the lines of these http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...&man=74&cat=67, it's a great shop and for the price any of those pipes will be fine.

Alternatively give the shop a call and ask for advice on the more expensive pipes if you want, the guy who runs the place is nice and knowledgeable. I have only ever had excellent service from here and lucky for me it's just down the road!

Would you just Soak the mouth bit in Alcohol to sterilise it?

In all honesty, I'd just replace it. Just look for pipe stems.

Edit: While your at it, it might be worth getting something like this http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...ind&idPrd=2044

I opted for one of Gauntleys London Briars and am very pleased with it. As far as I can make out they are the pipes made by Dunhill that fail to make the A grade level of excellence they supply. Normally bought up and sold by Parker I get the impression Gauntleys are buying them up too and selling them at 1/10 of the regular Dunhill price. The briar is well seasoned and makes for excellent pipes. A Dunhill pipe might strip you clear of ?250-?280; the GLB will cost you ?30.00.
Here's mine packed with Dunhill Flake, folded and stuffed. Beautiful.

Now that sounds like a bargain.

Now I have been looking at them did not no that tho

                Is that a NO 32 ?

Yes, a 32. It feels good in the hand and the bent shape means much less pipe juice in one's gob.
As additional note, the GLB comes pre-carbonised meaning less messing about building carbon cake with 1/3 bowls.
As a parenthesis, and nothing to with the pipe per se, the fold and stuff method (flake) allowed well in excess of 1 hours smoking - cool, rich and bursting with rich Virginia flavours.

Thereis lots of stuff to consider when choosing a new pipe, unless youonly want a cheap alternative, yet if you want something to last neara lifetime you should consider carefully. Do you like the look of thepipe in your mouth or do you care about its look? Make sure it’swell made and all the parts are aligned properly. Be careful of puttyfills and cheap metal screens as well. Consider a decent pipe, justas you would a cigar.
