  • Bad breath after smoking

    Hello All

I have been smoking cigars now for over a year, and frequently i am starting to smoke more. However my other half hates it that i smoke them and i get a right lecturer from her when i do. I normally smoke them when she is at work in the evening, which gives me time to rid some of the smell over all.

In the mornings i get really bad breath which is related from the cigar i smoked the previous night, which i a dead give away that i smoke them. Is there any way taht i can stop this bad breath occurring or this something that can not be stopped?

    Thanks in advance
    Michael

Tooth paste and a tooth brush before bed normally works wonders

        Brush your teeth?

Try Potter's Catarrh Pastilles, they should effectively disinfect your gob and make you smell accordingly.

Try a strong mouthwash before going to bed. Grab one of the alcohol based ones as IME, they seem to have more poke. As well as brushing your teeth, give the tongue a good going over too. That will help.

I can usually still taste the remnants of last nights cigar in the morning even after brushing and mouthwash at night. Second brush cracks it. Don't know if a magic bullet for getting rid of it exists, cigar smoke tends to 'cling' more so than say, cigarettes.

I have found this a problem as well, and understand your plight...

I have found it can effect the bedroom department somewhat...

Heard chewing about 8 fennel seeds after a cigar really does help your breath?

                    Hi Michael,

I can totally relate to you. My Mrs. hates me smoking cigars.
So much so, that I can only really smoke them when she's out/away, or if I'm out.
The only thing you can do is brush your teeth, and maybe eat something and drink something afterward too.
A shower helps big time. Be sure to gargle a few mouth fulls of soap too
Food and drink after can help (ideally strong tasting).
It actually bugs me, that cigars for me come with a lot of aggro (at home).
They're supposed to be relaxing, but for me - they can cause a lot of headache...
                    Regards,
                    Simon

I just ignored my mrs' gripes with the habit until she was able to ignore the habit I don't think she even minds it anymore and I think they do love you having a passion as such so that presents are not hard to come by and she sure has treated me well.

Treat her to a nice night out at a cigar terrace, ply her with alcohol and win her over haha

Aside from that brush your teeth and tongue, use a godo mouthwash and I don't think my penchant for barkley's mints does any harm either.

                              Its a tough call mate!

After smoking the cigar do you allow the lovely taste to play on in your mouth for an hour or two after smoking? or do you reset your mouth by emptying a tube of Colgate into your mouth!

Perhaps try to have your cigar with a drink that compliments the cigar but breaks down the tobacco smell? Interestingly coffee (which seems to be a perfect cigar pairing) also makes your mouth smell like a rubbish dump so try to avoid that.

Coca-Cola is a good option or alternatively get your wife on the cigar wagon!
