  • hello everyone

    hi all,

name's will, and im a student in london, but originally from northern ireland.

glad to be on, have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now. Have only recently been taking a serious interest in cigars and am keen to learn!

any recommendations for a good beginners smoke?

    cheers

Welcome mate! Nice of you to post.

I'm sure the lads will get you started. Something thin and mild to begin with me thinks. Romeo y Julieta No2/No3 or something like that.

Welcome aboard WN, i'd go with a montecristo no. 4 for a good start, good flavour while not too demanding due to its size

Or anything by Hoyo or Upmann, both are fairly mild smokes.
Lover of fine Cubans since 2006

        Hello there pal!!

I nice starter is something like a RyJ or an Upmann....both of which are quite easy to get hold of in some pubs and wine merchants. Cigars are v. expensive in the UK so if you're looking to buy a box and want to save some cash, PM me and I'll give you some ideas of where to source them 'off-shore'

          Welcome mate.

You've certainly found the right place to up your knowledge amd with stevie giving you tips on sourcing you wont go far wrong.
Although as a student and also living in London I'm amazed you can afford even a cafe creme!
By the way what are you studying?

cheers for all the tips guys will definitely have to try some of those out and let you know how i get on!

I agree on the monte no.4 Kdot - was one of the cigars that got me interested in the first place!

Boss - im a 4th year med student, which would normally mean i can only afford to window shop for cigars, but luckily ive got some armed forces sponsorship so i can treat myself now and again - although my ladyfriend doesnt exactly approve of the expense or the smoke in general! but i think im on to a great thing here.

Would be great to hear about some reliable sources stevie - cant really run the risk of mr customs getting his slice as i am only a student so ive ordered a box of sticks off monte! read about him on here and looked up the website, now just waiting....

Hi Wn, good advice from the guys, welcome to the forum.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'
