I recently did a trade with Trickle for some Gurkhas he wanted to unload and he included this and an Acid for free, thanks Simon that was very generous of you. So onto the cigar, this is part of a range created for Cigars International with different colour labels by different manufacturers. This was my first infused cigar and it is supposed to be infused with amaretto and hazelnut although one reviewer I watched thought it was infused with Kahlua then went on to bleat that he couldn't taste it.
The cigar itself is sold as a toro and measures 5.75" by 54 ring gauge. The wrapper appears to be a Colorado Claro and the cigar is well made. The feel is firm with a little springiness and the veins you can see are almost flush. The wrapper gave off a sweet vanilla and cocoa scent and once punched the draw was very light and carried the same flavours. Many people won't like this because the wrapper itself is sweet almost like artificial sweetener and it stays on your lips. Once lit it produced plenty of smoke even at rest and the smoke was sweet and creamy with definite flavours of vanilla and roasted nuts and a long finish that lingered on the palate.
The burn was perfect and it never needed relighting or touching up. The ash was a pale grey that dropped at about every inch. This was not a pungent cigar at all and could be smoked in company without causing offence.
It lasted me an hour and a half and as the sweetness faded a mild pepper made itself known increasing in intensity towards the end. The final inch got a bit warm so I left it there.
I can imagine that not a lot of members would even try this and even less would like it but I enjoyed it and will certainly look for some more. Variety is after all the spice of life n'est ce pas?
