  • Regius Culebras

So I bought myself these over Christmas purely for the novelty of it.

Was very impressed with the twisting of them I must say. Felt a little firm but smelled lovely and earthy.

So I decided to have one on New Year's Eve.

Undid the ribbon and gently pried the three apart, had a smooth and soft wrapper and was a touch on the dry side. Cut the cap and I was expecting a firm draw but to my surprise it was an easy and free draw.

The earthy notes of wood mainly dominated from the outset with a cool draw and a definite moderate strength to them and this was the theme all the way through the cigar.

I found it changed very little up until the final third where it warmed up slightly and a peppery after note came through.

Perfect burn all the way down the ash stayed attached till half way or so without making any great effort to preserve it.

Was a thoroughly enjoyable smoke all the way through and I'll certainly be looking into buying Regius again on the back of these.

The Partagas ones appear to have been twisted together better

Does it not feel weird to smoke a twisted cigar? I think I'd feel like I was smoking a broken cigar because of the twist

It's a conversation starter if nothing else!

Although it's worth mentioning to anyone else smoking it that it's meant to be twisted and to not try and straighten it out... Like my brother did.

I find that too, if any visitors show an interest in my cigars my wife always wants me to get it out to show them and tell them the story behind it.

That's a bit inappropriate to show you guests isn't it?
