  • American Football

I know this is a marmite thing, but do we have any guys here who are into their American football? Anyone use to play?

I'm a steelers fan and played for 11 years (not for the steelers haha) and now semi retired [emoji6] to old now but would like 1 more season!

Here's a pic of me in a final from a few years ago I'm on the right, we lost but it was a great game, great venue and a long night [emoji13]

Ahhhh....too bad your aren't the "bad arse" to the left ! Looks like you played at a pretty high level, muchacho! What position?

The late great don TJ, TJ Coro was a running back at the high school level, but the rest of us Coros are into what the Yanks call "soccer."

From where I sit in SoM, MX, it looks like American Football is fading from favor, due to all the bad actors in the sport these day. What are your thoughts? Also, what are your thoughts on the "Redskins" team name? Is it racist, in your opinion? Seems to be another topic of concern in the great land to the north from what I gather on the short wave radio.

I played linebacker, only amateur level in the UK it's bigger than most think must be 100+ teams across the country at university level and adult level! This pic was from the finals weekend at the keepmoat stadium in Doncaster, most of our games were generally played at local rugby pitches in the middle of nowhere [emoji6]

The Redskins name? Ive read so many articles on it and such and like you say a topic of concern at the moment. With what the name historically meant I say change it for sure and for Washington they need a rebrand as it is the way their playing[emoji6]

And finally Mightyred ........... the Pats [emoji30][emoji30][emoji30]

I've been to see a few American Football games, mainly in this country including some of the London Monarchs games in various locations in London a few years ago. I have also been to Wembley on a few occasions with an American colleague to watch the NFL games including the recent Miami Dolphins victory over a poor Oakland Raiders team.

                    Haha brilliant [emoji13]

Seems though that the Pats are struggling as too are the steelers, who amazingly lost to the Bucs lol so I can't diss them too much Robustos [emoji6]

I think both Pats and Steelers are ageing, give them 2 seasons the way these teams draft and run things and they'll be challenging for the Super Bowl again!

I've followed NFL ever since that big push by channel 4 way back when and attended the first two NFL exhibition games at the old wembley stadium.

49'ers are my team, closely followed by the Redskins.

Haha! I used to follow the Redskins quite closely as a lad when they were a competitive team. Sadly, they haven't been much to watch for some time.

These days, when I'm not enjoying a football match, I enjoy watching American baseball....less hostile and fewer concussions.

Yep, I was brought up on football in a time of John Riggins/Joe Theismann and Joe Montana/Jerry Rice. Golden years.
