  • Airey's of Kendal

I went to Kendal yesterday in the Lake District. Visited a small tobacconists called Airey's and picked up some Coniston cut plug, kendal menthol mix and a brown aromatic twist. All made in the Gawith and Hogarth factory in Kendal.
    Here's the shop.

They also have a small selection of Cubans. Worth a visit if you are in the area

Cut plug nearly read as another subject altogether! Nice find Pandy, not being a pipe smoker I've not seen that twist tobacco before, very interesting.

Looks a very interesting shop. I have tried brown twist before. It is strong and although interesting to try, I find that flake tobacco is easier to pack evenly in my pipe.
Can anyone tell me if or what is the difference between Samuel Gawith's and Gawith Hoggarth? Is it two different companies in the same area or one company with different names and products?

Did you see the factory with the original sign outside.... It looks like a Turkish head to me. Not sure if it is a Turk though.
