  • Box dates

I've just got a box of Partagas P2's and I've never really been bothered by the box date before, this one has Dec 05, they feel and smell great.
Is that a general age they have on the box before being sold or have I been lucky in the fact that it was from a respectable retailer on a small island that maybe doesnt sell much but the stock is sitting there nicely aging for me.

Senor Hog...you were quite lucky!!!. Sure you didn't buy them under the "vintage" seciton?

No, it is not normal to receive boxes that old. In fact, you could consider it lucky when you receive a box that is one-year old, let along five!!!

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I rarely smoke a puro less than a year old...goes againt me principles.

      Luck.

You landed on your feet with that one Boss. They should be a really nice smoke mate.

Like TJ says, unusual to get a box from that vintage.

        I prefer boxes from 2006, 2004 and 2001

My main squeeze bought me back a very untypical (for me) box of Partagas Aristocrats from Spain dated 2005. I've set fire to nearly all of them. Not a bad little smoke if I'm honest.... shan't be buying another box as they're not really my thing but for anybody looking for a quick smoke instead of the RA small club corona (my very occasional quickie) they're really quite nice.

Senor Hand, sounds like you've been doing some research of these babies. Can you speak to the differences between the good years and the not-so-good years?

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I'm gonna' check the date on my box when I get home.

Hola TJ, I've enjoyed every cigar from 2006 and 2004, and the 2001 EL Cohiba Piramide is outstanding! plus i've heard the 2001 Lanceros are the best, hence i assume 2001s are not bad as well. On the other hand, i've had a 2007 Hoyo Petit Robusto, which is one of my favorite cigar, and the taste was SHIT! i wouldnt pay a penny for 2007 cigars

Thank you, Senor Hand. Very interesting observation. I'm gonna' start keeping track of those dates and see if my amigos have similar results.

Names TJ, TJCoro, and senor pedro may be on to something.

Totally disagree dude !! I sold a box because they were so harsh and rough...dreadful cigars (IMO)

Now, the Cohiba DC and the Sublimes were a different matter....astounding in every way

Must agree there Stevie: surely a whole years production across a variety of cigars from different producers can't all be the same, whether that be the greatest smokes, or cack

I'll keep a few back for a bit more aging.
