Silly idea or not ?

I am always looking for ways to decorate in a Cuban style in the man cave
So have come up with this idea
Going to dismantle empty boxes take out the paper flaps

And laminate them
The top lids on small boxes place a plastic film over them and use the as beer mats [emoji1]
Just thinking the wonderful colours of the boxes would make for a brighter smoking environment
What do we think ?
Also anyone got any old boxes as well they wish to chuck my way as well dress boxes only

Lamination usually ends up peeling, maybe frame them instead?

They'd look good behind glass on the wall.

Make a small frame and pour clear resin over be perfect for coasters

The idea is great, it just sounds like you need to use a method that'll last. The resin one sounds like it'd go the distance.

The resin would make lovely coasters out of used cigar bands as well

Amazon, art and craft shops etc just Google clear resin. Be interesting to see your results just be prepared to ruin three or four till you've sussed it practice makes perfect

If I were you I would consider using a mould cast the coasters then they will all be identicle cover the bottoms in felt after ,maybe some kind of cake cutter would make the perfect size, resin can be polished after around the edges if there are any casting problems. As with all moulds you will need some sort of mould oil to strike the finished product . Hope that should give you plenty to ponder over whilst enjoying your next smoke

hardware stores.

i use a black one to finish my lab bench at home. Protects against acid spills. There's a see-through one you can buy that protects only against water.

My brother did a similar this with old guitar string cases and made them into beer matts - they look really good so I would say go for it!

Very smart.... some of those ones [that aren't DiMarzio] are absolutely gorgeous.
