  • To Review, or not to Review, that is the question?

    Geed Evening Gents and Ladies,

    Do hope all is well.

I have been seriously thinking about not just reviewing cigars but as the plethora or accessories that we use on a daily basis. Although I have smoked a sisnificant amount of cigars, when looking at people surrounding me, what is a 1000 cigars (my rough intake to 10,000 etc. The point being I am surrounded by people that now more already than I may be able to in one lifetime. I enjoyed the GRAMM Works Travel Humidor Review, but do want to expand, just not sure the audience here can have it's not pleasant moments and ultimately, who the fuck wants their work short down, unless it was the layout, or the content of the review, this is constructive criticism with I am delighted to receive as it makes a better review.

Any how, Reviwes by Ross.Co and all affiliated contributors will be noted.

Review or not to Review, that is the question.

PS, yes I know, neck on the chopping block etc...

Feel free to review Ross, we can all add something to our collective knowledge. But please make it easier to read than your post above! Thought Butters had written it.

Go for it. Of course, this is all about individual taste, and we're all different, but there isn't much in life which hasn't been through some sort of review and recommendation process - even Tesco's Value Ketchup was tested and reviewed by someone!

I probably wouldn't buy on the basis of a single review, but if your review is one of a few which enthuses about a specific cigar, then maybe I might. Look at Cohibas - there are plenty of people who don't rate them very highly, but the weight of opinion over time nevertheless suggests that they are worth the premium. No one should shoot you down for expressing your personal taste - I would be happy to sit behind the barricades with you and shoot back if they did!

Review Ross, but as with anything that's put out into the "domain" you may get responses you don't like or agree with.... But that's just part of life and we all just have to move on.

Don't review unless your prepared to invest 100% concentration into the project, which in many way means giving up on the comfort and relaxation into a cigar.
If you want to, you can.

Very true. Something I have noticed when posting in the What are you smoking today? thread whilst still smoking the cigar in question.

I couldn't agree more, I made the mistake of starting a review without the appropriate amount of free time. I stuck with that one but I haven't found the free time in which to seriously attempt my next review. I think the layout is important, by that I don't mean to say that one must follow a certain layout rather that you should use the same format in all of your future reviews to facilitate easier referencing. This is another mistake I made early on. Now I have a points scoring system and try to make the body of the review similar in each.
I do think you should take the time to write these reviews in an easy to understand way and where possible try to make it a bit fun and not too stuffy. This makes it easier for the reader to stick with it. I like the way Olly Smith reviews wine on TV, informative but light hearted.
