  • I want to try and start doing reviews on Cigars & Accesories - Need Advice Please

    Good Morning Gents & Ladies.

I have always enjoyed constructing a review, although I have never done so on a cigar. Can I please have some guidance on how to best lay it out?

Also, I will look to use a 100 point scoring system. Advice on how to proportion the scores and what we as cigar smokers are interested in?

The more help & advice, the better (slowly but surely) my reviewing will become.

And the last thing and most important, any review should be challenged, either in layout, content or if you have an idea. Criticism in a contrsutive form is a MUST and I assure you no offence will be taken as it will only serve to make me enjoy my reviewing further.

Thanks & Looking forward to hearing from you.

Ross, google your queries regarding a point scoring system as there is some good stuff out there, which you can use or adapt. There are apps too which may be helpful.

I would read through the various reviews (not just on the forum, but on the internet) and see what you think works well and use that as the basis , personally on the occasions where I have written a review I like to write on the appearance of the cigar, then the flavours and finally the construction/smoking characteristics, before an overall conclusion.

Personally I dislike the 100 point system for scoring cigars - I just don't believe you can say a cigar is 1/100th better than another, the following thread was started by Simon on scoring systems and may give you some ideas

Since this thread I have started a 24 point system, but I will post about that in the thread rather than here
